Help with SAT study schedule and program? :((

Hello everyone, with my last hopes I created a thread in look for what I am searching for. I need help getting started to study for my SAT. I am a Junior and I plan to take the SAT in May, as well as in September or October or both if necessary. I always thought I was smart, I get good grades in previous standarized tests but I am not feeling as confident with the SAT. I have never taken an SAT before, nor a full practice exam. Worst thing is, I dont know where to start. I am pretty sure I need a review of most things in the SAT. I have searched all over the internet but there are so many methods that contradict each other, or none of them are really clear and step by step. I read about the xiggi, the silverturttle, ect. My goal is to get a 2000 in the test, and I am determined to study ect but I dont know where to start.

First of all, people say that to study you should do as many practice tests as you can, and check each individual answer and analyze why you got them wrong and be confident about the ones you got right. However I dont understand where all the Prepbooks fit in this. Should one take many tests, check what you did wrong, then when you know your flaws, read the books? OR should I read the books first as a review, then do the exams and check each question?

-Many people say you should divide things into smaller sections. However, if you do a whole math section at a time, and then check the answers and review the wrong ones, arent you mixing many math sections? (algebra, geom, ect)

-Next, should I focus in one section at a time or vary amongst them? (Math, Writing, CR). Should I focus in understanding every single math concept first, then cr, then writing? Or vary them by day or whatever. How should I manage my time?

  • In the SAT, are all types of problems the same but different questions? If I miss a geometry question on one sat, is there going to be the same type of geometry question in another one? That way I can identify my flaws and then do specific study sessions towards that area. Or do they randomly change the questions.

I really want the grade. I have the motivation to get there and I am sure that I am capable of, but I dont know even where to start. On top of that I have to read the Baron´s AP US History because my Apush teacher sucks and I need to take the test in May aswell but my SAT is my main priority. I want to work daily on it at least for an hour or hour and a half but right now I am just lost.

Any type of help, comment, link, idea, suggestion, will be more than likely appreciated. So please help me :frowning:

Well, prep books normally contain: practice tests, strategies for the test, and some teach you the curriculum that will be on the test. To answer your questions-

1.) I don’t really understand what you’re saying, but I assume you’re talking about taking a math section in 1 sitting. Math is mixed up throughout it, the just don’t tell you do geometry for section #5. Have you taken the PSAT?
2.) I would spend more time on sections you struggle with. Personally, I like variety. So I don’t fry my brain by doing too much CR or Math at one time.
3.) You just need to know your basic math concepts for each level of math. There’s no guarantee until you get in there and take the test. You need to polish ALL of your skills.

Hope this helped. If you need anything else answered, let me know! Best of luck!
