Best schedule for studying?

Hi, I've been trying to get myself to study for SAT's. I am scoring near 1700's right now and I want to hit the 2000 range. I never studied for SAT's before, but I got all the books I need (DH, BB, Gruber's, Dr. Chung, btw, can you list any more books that you might suggest?)

My problem is that when I start to study, I don't know where to begin. How much to do for a day? Do a practice test?

I read several times about picking a certain months to do intensive study on a certain subject. I also read about doing different things everyday, like math one day, writing the next.

Can someone suggest a study schedule for me? Which (month study vs. day study) is more effective? I am willing to work as hard as it will take. Once I create a schedule, I will follow it (I am very organized :P).

Also, like I said, if anyone has any good books in mind that helped them get stellar SAT scores, then please list them. I am particularly looking for Writing and anything good on Passage-Based reading, but please list whatever you feel is best!

Thank you!

Bumpp pleasee

bumpppp :(

Studying for the SAT is like working out in the gym. There are 100 different plans to follow, the thing is, you have to stick to one of them only to get the best results.
This is what I do :
Day 1 : Answer 1 math test + 1 reading section + memorize 10 vocab words
Day 2 : Answer 1 writing test + 1 reading section + memorize 10 vocab words
Ofc. if you have more free time you can answer more practice tests everyday, but I dont have much time to study

Funny thing is that even when I’m at a gym, I don’t know where to start :stuck_out_tongue: I see what you’re saying though, thanks! Anymore suggestions please?

Day 1: Practice Test + Score
Day 2: Review Test, Correct All Mistakes + Direct Hits
Day 3: Study weakest section + Direct Hits + Write an Essay
Day 4: Study other two sections + Direct Hits

Make sure you write all SAT words you missed on tests down as well.

Got me from a 1750 –> 2250

How long did it take you to get that mark? one month, three months, 1 year? Also, how many vocab words did you do a day?

StuckInTheAir, truly inspiring and exactly what I asked for. Thanks so much. And I second happygirl123’s question, how long did it take you?

If anyone else has suggestions, please add on!

I did exactly the same as StuckInTheAir, and I got my 2020 up to a 2280 in a month of studying, with about 1-2 hours a day (consistently).
Getting your score from the 1700s to the 2000s should be much easier, and faster. But the thing is, make sure you keep studying right up to the test date. Studying a lot then taking a break for a month or two is a waste.

Well, I started studying last June and took the test in October. The program I went to (Elite) gave us 2000 words to study…some of them were bogus though, so in the end I probably only had about 1000ish memorized.

A HUGE help is to simply take practice tests…preferably official BB ones.

Good luck to everyone!

Wow, thanks guys  I will definitely follow this routine since it was so effective for all of you. But how did you study for the weakest sections exactly? And the other two sections? Did you read from any prep books or just tried figuring out why you got the question wrong?

Look at the thread “SAT plan for oct.” SATwriter has written a 12 week plan to follow. It is really helpful.

In the end, it doesn’t matter how you study…you can search up 293482903 tenchniques, formulas and BS like that. Only way to win is to work.

Thanks StuckintheAir! Appreciate the help!
