Alright, so this is my current schedule for next year (Senior Year):

IB Biology II HL

IB English II HL

IB History II HL

IB Math II SL

IB Spanish V SL

IB TOK

Physics I

I want to be a doctor in my future, maybe something with Neuroscience. So, my school is offering IB Psychology next year, and I might want to take that. It just seems like something that would benefit me with Neuroscience and I think I would get a lot more out of it. The problem is that if I want to take this class, I have to drop Physics. Everyone always tells me that this class is extremely important and Ivy-Leagues and other big colleges won't even look at you if you haven't taken Physics. But I might just take it over the summer or something maybe at a community college before college or just not at all. What do you all suggest?

YES, they do look at you even without an IB Physics class in your report (they’re not ignorant)…i’d say that you should take the subject that you would enjoy the most…a full IB Diploma is a completely annoying **** that gets thrown in your face…but if you take a subject that you actually like…it’ll soften the blow…i took Environmental Science instead of Biology (which i LOVED) because i thought it would be easier…it made my life a living hell…sure it was easy, but when you’re not passionate about something…well, it just gets in the way…you get bored, make crappy IAs, and most importantly, it’s even harder to get a 7…even if it is an “easy” class…so take the class that you like most, even if it’s harder…because it will get you through the IB graduation gate with (hopefully) a score of 38++ …after all, that is what the ivies are looking for…so don’t worry about them not looking at your application, because they will…they know that IB is arguably harder than any other advanced classes (come and get me A Levels and AP-ers)…and good grades would give you a wonderful standing…just do your best to survive IB

btw, i just finished my exams on the 20th…it felt AWESOME!! ;)

LOL, congrats on finishing your exams. I took IB Environmental Systems this year and loved it. I’m not all into Environmental Science, but I thought the class was fun. But anyways, would you suggest taking 7 IB class as a senior? Or is it even worth it?

with the full Diploma?? are you crazy?? hahahaha but if you can do it, take it! universities are aware of how hard the full diploma is…and by making yourself take an extra course would mean that you increased your own workload…do it successfully, and i believe that you’ll be rewarded by universities…if it’s too much for you, then all of your grades will suffer…i suggest that you should take it at the beginning of your senior year, provided that you have the option to drop the class (without being recorded to your report) if it’s too much…if the option isn’t there…well, you just have to decide on your own if the reward and the risk is good enough
