Help With The "Why Yale?" Question.

Hello, I am new to this web-site, and would truly appreciate it if you could answer my question:

Can anyone please tell me what are some things that are only found in Yale--aside from the residential colleges. In other words, what EXACTLY makes Yale unique? Any suggestions, Yalies?

Haha I’m sorry, none of us here can help you out with that! What are you looking for that Yale provides? What can YOU bring to enrich the Yale community? I suggest you do some research online, or on Yale’s website. Perhaps there is a particular major or program that you are interested in! Best of luck!

Why Yale is about you and what you want in Yale…
This question isn’t a trick, it is about knowing yourself well (as much as one can at age 17-18)
and
knowing Yale as well as you can from what you know of Yale through the website, visits etc.

Good luck

If you cannot think of another reason for “Why Yale” besides the residential college system, then perhaps you should not be applying to the school.

Or, maybe you should try another college, like Harvard – they don’t ask a “why” question because they don’t care why you want to attend.

Or, then again, you could try using google: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/538975-what-makes-yale-unique.html

Part of the college application process is learning to think for yourself. Best of luck to you wherever you apply!
