HELP (writing sample dilemma)

I'm a prospective international ED I applicant and I'm in the process of completing my Reed supplement. I noticed that this year, a graded writing sample is required. I filled out the supplement last year meaning to apply (but never did ... long story) and no writing sample was required for int'l students. My questions are:

Is this a new thing (or did I hallucinate last year ...)?

I've recently moved and in the process I threw out basically all of my papers and notes and all of those HS shenanigans (I graduated June of this year) and I cannot find a single writing sample. I am more than willing to write a paper and have an English professor at a local University (my mom is also a professor there and I'm sure finding someone to read and write comments on my paper won't be a problem) read it over, "grade it", etc -- would that be an acceptable alternative?

That is all!

Call the Reed admission office and talk to them. They will let you know the best way to proceed - they are very helpful!

You are correct; we didn’t have to submit a writing sample last year.

Contact the admission office with your concern and they’ll tell you what else you can do.

^C/O 2015 didn’t have to submit a writing sample? That’s weird, 2014 did.

It wasn’t required for international applicants, is what I meant.

My mistake. ^_^
