I'm a US citizen, moved from Kansas to the United Arab Emirates in Nov 2001. I went to a crappy private school in a small town in the middle of the desert. Ranked first out of 9 students, got pretty much 80's and 90's during my last 4 years. I'l probably get really good reccomendations since i was the only good student in the whole city. I plan on studing physics, math, or engineering.

I have a few problems though:
1 - I already graduated in June, so im not doing anything rifght now
2 - I don't have any extra curriculars besides photography and tennis which i do on my own time and have no proof of
3 - Financial Aid is a must (we're a family of 6 and our total annual income is about $40,000) but im not sure what to do since the fafsa and css profile require info about taxes but we don't pay taxes because my parents are not us citizens

I just wanted to know if im aiming too high with these colleges and if you have any suggestions (safeties, etc ...). Also, please any suggestions on how to fix my three problems.

I would really appreciate your comments.

i forgot to say that im egyptian american

1- You should be doing something, whether it's taking classes at a CC, focusing on tennis, having a job, doing community service. Doing nothing isn't very productive...
2- You don't need proof of your extra curriculars. You just write tennis and photography on the applications
Don't know about #3...sorry.
Anyway, you need some schools that are easier to get in to. You have a chance at all these schools, but all are very difficult.

thanks
can you suggest any colleges that might be better matches?

and do you mean i shouldnt apply to any of these?

Those colleges are big reaches for you. Think along the lines of Northwestern, Emory, UCLA...

I was afraid of that.
Does anyone else have any comments?
PLEASE HELP! - I'm really lost in this whole process.

Thanks

come on guys
