I'm a HS Junior and I''m trying to narrow down my college choices. Right now, I am trying to find out more about Emory, WUSTL (Washington University St. Louis), SLU (St. Louis University).
I want to know what anyone thinks of the professors and how helpful they are particularly ones in the math and science departments. I heard that at WUSTL the professors were very tough and not very helpful, is that true?
Also, out of curiosity what do you think my chances are for those schools...
4.7 GPA
Class Rank 2/545
NHS
activities include: cheerleading, pep club, freshman mentoring
volunteer work at my church nursery for 6 years
have taken as many Hnrs/AP classes as possible
29 ACT-but retaking it soon-I hope to get at least 32
I think that's it! THanks for your help!!!!

I think your chances at these schools are good.

If you look at US News Best Colleges, you will see that Emory's graduation rate is 7% below expectation while the graduation rate at WUSTL is 5% above expectation. That's a big difference. I would guess the professors at WUSTL are more helpful.

What made you focus on these three schools? Which science interests you? Which state do you live in?

First off I live in Missouri, so thats why I've been looking into WashU and SLU. I know WashU's has a really good pre-med program and my aunt and uncle both went to WashU and they liked it. I had some relatives tell me that they personally liked SLU better so recently I've been looking at their program. And then another aunt and some family friends mentioned Emory to me. After to researching Emory I really like it. I think I'm going to try and visit Emory and WashU sometime in the next couple months. Oh and I think I might major in chemistry, I'm not exactly sure though. Thanks for your reply.

i visited and got accepted at both SLU and WashU. Wash U has an amazing campus, and SLU's is fine, just not as good as wash u's. they're both good schools, although obviously wash u is ranked higher. however, i LOVED the people at slu. everyone was incredibly friendly, nice, helpful. nothing at all against wash u, but their student population would be considered more intellectual and studious while i would say slu's is more laid back and down to earth. although, of course, slu has its group of hard core intellectuals too. its just a matter of preference...both are great schools
