Which of the following schools consider financial aid as a factor in admissions:MIT,Stanford and Princeton
You might think, before you ask a question, to be more descriptive in your title since everyone posting here needs ‘help.’ And you really should give information necessary to ensure an accurate answer.
They are all ‘need blind’ for admission and all 'meet 100% of need for domestic students.
Only MIT and Princeton are ‘need blind’ and meet 100% of need for international students. I believe that Stanford is ‘need aware’.
Ah sorry about that.
While MIT is need blind and meets full need for all accepted international students, the school DOES limit the number of international students it accepts.
Stanford is need aware for international students.
PRINCETON treats international applicants the same for admissions and financial aid.
Thanks all
Princeton’s policies are like MIT you mean?
Yes…Stanford will consider your ability to pay for college when they review your application for admission. But MIT clearly states that they have limited funds for international students…and limit the number of international students accepted.
Here are your stats from another thread. I hope you realize that MIT, CalTech, Stanford, and Princeton are reaches for you for admission. They are for almost everyone.
Also…please clarify. You say you did NOT apply for financial aid. Is that the case? If you do not apply for financial aid at all, the school will rightfully assume you plan to pay the $60,000 or so per year to attend. And if you indicate NO on the application, they will rightfully not plan to award you any aid.
And some of these schools clearly state that if you do NOT apply for aid as an incoming freshman, you will not be eligible to do so in future years.
Your application for admission to these schools will be considered alongside all the others applying from your region of the world. There are a ton of very well qualified applicants from that area.
I agree with the posters who responded on your chances post. This is a very top heavy list. I hope you have an affordable option with a good chance of admission on your application list.
Well for me it is either this or studies in Singapore or India. I was only interested to go to the US if I get into these top colleges. Else I will go there for my PG.
Thanks for all the help. I am grateful that you took some time to help me out in this process.
I was not sure. I had to ask my dad about this. I did put yes in my common app.
Well, now is the time to go to those college websites and look for what they require you to submit for financial aid consideration. And check those deadlines as well. Make a list for each school…and get it done as soon as possible. Do not miss the deadlines…not even by a day.
I believe all of the schools on your list require the CSS Profile at the very least…except Georrgia Tech.
If you use google, and search “blah blah university international student financial aid” you will find all of the info you need. Substitute the college name for blah blah.
