Help!

To make a very long story short, I have recently found out that I cannot leave home for college, due to family issues. This obviously shortens the list of colleges I am applying to (I am a senior).

I live just south of Boston, and am now looking for more colleges to apply to.
NOTE: I have to be able to commute.

I am applying to:
Boston Conservatory
Emerson College
Umass Boston
Rhode Island College

Also, I have added Berklee to my list, but am unaware of whether I could create a musical theatre major through the consortism (sp?) with Emerson and BoCo.

blah.

Sorry to hear that, _simplywicked. If you are open to considering programs with theatre and music departments, but not musical theatre, you might want to consider Boston University (very strong in both theatre and music) as well as Salem State College, which has a very strong theatre program and a new music major.

_simplywicked, I know someone at Berklee and he said he knows people at Berklee who take musical theatre classes at boco (such as dance, acting, etc.). I would definitely call and ask.

Brandeis has a great theatre program, and we often see their graduates and students cast at the New Rep. We have also seen excellent musicals at Boston College. A very talented girl who was the always the star of her high school class goes there.

Keep in mind that the Boston theatre scene is thriving and growing. There are many opportunities to audition for productions outside of school, if a program doesn't include what you want. Performing is always a great teacher, maybe the best! Become a member of StageSource and you'll get all the audition notices. Plus, there are many great teachers out there for private lessons.

BU has this "create your major program". they have a very solid acting program and maybe you could take music classes as well to create a "musical theater major." just something i heard..hope i helped.
