Help

so im having trouble deciding my song or my audition.
ive thought about doing 16 going on 17 (Rolfs part)
or Mr. Cellophane as my uptempo
&& youll never walk alone as my ballad…
but im not 100% sure…are these good ???

It's almost impossible for people to assist you in choosing songs without knowing you/seeing you/hearing your voice. :)

I agree with NMR about people choosing material for you without knowing you/your voice. How soon is your audition? Because - I believe in the one month rule. You should NEVER perform or audition with a song that you haven't had memorized for at least one month - you need time to get it into your body.

That having been said, I think your 3 song choices may all be overdone, and not particularly inspired choices. (Although 16-17 is more overdone for girls than boys.) I don't think of either of your uptempo songs as being particularly uptempo.

Also - it's been a while since I've seen Carousel, and have never done it -- but I remember Nettie sings the song first, then the reprise is everyone. I think the one guy begins it, but I don't think of it as a "male" song.

However, if you do a great job on these songs, and your audition is in January, commit to them, and do them full out to the best of your ability.

I thought that was a Carousel song sung by a female, but MusThCC confirmed this. You might want to consider that Elon did Carousel as the fall musical last year. Not sure if that matters, but it's just FYI.

I agree with the above. Having said that, I always would opt for music that is well rehearsed and one is comfortable with. So, regarding your uptempos - are you a "Mr. Cellophane" type or a "Rolf" type - go with the one you might most easily be cast as. With the ballad, "When you walk through a Storm" is generally seen as a female sung piece - not going to score you any points = so, if you have time to prepare another choice.
