Hi all,
I am currently a freshman at University of Massachusetts Amherst and I am applying to transfer for fall 2009. I am doing fine with getting the college official's reports and recommendations in, but I have one problem. One of my grades from last semester (fall '08) has STILL not been posted. I don't want to send in my transcripts until this grade has been posted, because at the moment, there is an "NR" in the place where the grade should be, and I am afraid that colleges will frown upon it. Plus, this is my first year in college, so I have very little grades to begin with and I need as many grades as possible on my transcript to show my improvement.
I emailed the professor once to see if she was going to post it soon, informing her of my deadlines and she told me she would have it up by the following weekend (this was a month ago). I even went to see her in person the week after that and she told me the same story, but it is still not up. I tried emailing the head of the department as well, but it's been 2 weeks and he hasn't responded to me. I don't know why all these professors are so irresponsible.
Anyway, I would appreciate any ideas of what to do now? My deadlines are shortly approaching (the first one is march 1!). Should I just send in my transcript with the "NR"?

Go to the Dean of Students if your problem is not resolved continue up the ladder. That is completely unacceptable.

Agree. Speak to the Registrar and/or Dean of Students to get help in obtaining the grade from the faculty member. Don't worry, though, about submitting your applications by the deadline. It's fine if the transcript comes in separately and later.
