Help

I have absolutely no idea what to write my essay on, or how to go about doing it. It frustrates me because I'm a good student, but I feel like I have nothing to show.

I was the same way when I was trying to write my college essays. I was a good student, but I felt like a loser because I didn’t do anything “special”. Pretty much I didn’t really do anything spectacular extra circulars and I just mostly focused on school, and blasted my free time with video games- which I don’t recommend doing for anyone reading this post. I wrote about why I wanted to be an engineer since as a child and how my interests strengthened my aspirations. Just write something about yourself and be confident… I applied to Cal, UCLA, and other UCs and I got in :). Just PM me and I’ll be glad to help/chat :)

I want to be an engineer too, but I can’t seem to encompass that into an essay. I really like history, and gave a go writing about that, but a guidance counselor said I wasn’t really going anywhere with it…it’s frustrating. I’m only a junior and I need a final draft of an essay by tuesday :S

What, specifically, did he/she find lacking?

they believed I was jumping around too much. I wrote my first draft about why I love history, but apparently I wrote about too many time periods and too much about it.

Your essay is supposed to be about YOU, not about history. If you really need to discuss some historical period, write it very VERY briefly, and focus the entire essay on YOU.

Don’t worry, I also went through lots of drafts because I had a lot of unnecessary information :P
