Helping non-profit organizations

There is a non-profit organization near me that does great stuff and I'd really like to contact them and ask if I can work or help out with the organization. Is this a bad idea, considering I'm only 15 years old?
Sorry if the answer to this is obvious but I just wanted to make sure I'm not being foolish.

I’m sure any organization would be more than eager to have younger recruits.

Go for it.

That’s good to hear! Anyone else?

That’s definitely a great idea. I think it’ll be even better if you continue helping them out and working with them throughout your high school years. I only started volunteering this year which is my junior year since it is when students here get admitted to National Honors Society. If I knew more about colleges and everything when I was a freshman, I definitely would have volunteered and stuck with the same organizations while still helping out others for 3-4 years of high school since it definitely looks good on college applications that you are committed and all the jazz.
