Helping our kids prepare for decision day

somersboysmom - good job. Congratulations on his acceptances and moving on to the next chapter of his life. He can now enjoy rest of his senior year. I wouldn’t be surprised come next Oct he is going to tell you that he couldn’t imagine to be at any other school. D1 told me she thanked her lucky stars that she wasn’t admitted to her ED school.

somersboysmom: Congrats to your son for his acceptances and realizing that he still had good choices for college. Four years ago, my oldest son was waitlisted by Harvard (and Duke and Cornell, too). He came home and cried himself to sleep. He thought that his classmates would laugh at him for not gaining acceptance. The opposite happened. One friend came to me that morning and said that it did not matter where my son would go to school, because he would be successful at any school. I asked that he tell my son that, and he did. So did other friends. Four years later, he will graduate debt free and with two degrees and two minors. He did not allow rejection or a waitlist to define him or his college career.
