From the look of their website, it looks un-professional and very old (like as in, they haven't updated anything from the last 30 years). And also 80% men isn't looking that great to me. How is the dorm ?? What kind of reputation does it have in UIUC ?? Is it full of hardcore-studying-nerds ??

Its full of engineering kids so you can imagine. It seems alright however you can only eat there (vs all around campus in university housing) so it may not be very convenient sometimes.

From what I've heard, Hendrick House has the highest average GPA. This probably confirms your fears that it is full of hardcore-studying-nerds. I hear Champaign has more of a party atmosphere.

how about armory ? what kind of reputation does that dorm have?

i live right across the street from armory house. i dont think it really has a reputation. its all single rooms- it just seems quiet and pleasant. it's in a great location, though.

What's Bromley Hall like? Cause I am tryin to see if I can get a triple room there since it's the cheapest price and u don't gotta deal with the dorm stuff.

Otherwise, I'll probably be livin in a dorm since Illini Tower costs too much damn money to live in.

What are the FAR, Illinois Street, and Gregory dorms like? Since those are the ones I applied for, except I applied late for housing, last week lol.

well you'll probably get stuck in FAR and one word to describe it is...."standard"

but FAR's one of the only dorms with air conditioning and I applied late for housing, so not sure if I could get into there.

What's wrong with standard?

nothing special about them...they define the word dorm
besides its not like we live in texas. it does not get that hot at UIUC and the most it will be hot for is only about 1 month, it gets really cool at late september.

one thing i found funny was when I was lookin through the housing booklet, they had information about one of the private university housing complexes that had an outdoor pool as part of the ammenties there, but it's really not hot for most of the school year in Illinois lol.

But trust me, I lived through 2 days in my house without air conditioning in 90-95 degree heat and I couldn't sleep at all. It's horrible, and I'm a liker of warm weather.
