I got an email from Fordham deferring me to regular decision so I can apply for HEOP, my guidance counselor mentioned it in my recommendation letter that I am a perfect HEOP candidate. However, when I called Fordham they said that if I get rejected from the HEOP program (I feel my grades are high enough to have a chance in the RD pool, and for this reason, I feel I may get rejected for HEOP. However my income is very very low) the chances of me being accepted into Fordham without HEOP is slim. Also, the man said if I accept HEOP, I will have to commute which is a problem for me. Also, with all of this, there are only 35 spots out of the 250 who apply for HEOP.

I was wondering if anyone can give me an opinion or insight on how I should handle this situation? Should I deny my chance at HEOP, so I can dorm and possible take my risk of not getting into the school by myself? Or take the risk of not getting into the HEOP program and commute?
