So I had applied ED but didn’t have the financial documents needed to complete my application and asked for it to be moved RD. I submitted all materials on time excluding the financial a bit past the priority deadline. April 1st comes and I was informed my application is being considered for HEOP.
Personally knowing two alumni who were admitted through it I got worried and e-mailed the man in charge of Rose Hill apps. He basically told me to be patient.
I am financially qualified for HEOP.
My stats:
Catholic High School (taking 3 a.p. Classes this year)
3.3 gpa
1500 SAT (collectively)
E.C. :
V.P. Student Gov. (Home-room rep 9-10)
Ambassadors (11-12)
A good number of other clubs
(At the time of application submition) about 60 hours of serving as a teachers aide at my previous Catholic grammar school)
And I am employed at a pharmacy
Still haven’t heard anything. I have an urge to write again because many school deadlines are May 1st but have resisted due to what I’ve been told.
Is anybody else on the same boat? Should I write back?
(Thank you for taking the time to read)
I would definitely follow up to this, but I would call instead of email. You need time to process the decision, if accepted, and to put it behind you and move on, if not. It is definitely in your best interest to give them a call. It also shows of your interest. Good luck and let us know how you make out!
I originally applied as HEOP, and was admitted about a week ago. I didn’t have a strong GPA (2.7), but good SAT scores, extra-curricular activities, community service, recommendations, and connections.
I was in a college prep program where one of my counselors was a former Fordham HEOP student and encouraged me to apply to the school.
I think that besides a good personal essay and a strong interview (I got particularly lucky because mine was the director’s last interview of the day), I think it was mainly just showing interest.
So I definitely recommend you do a tour of the school, because you might even get to talk to one of the admissions counselors in person (like I did), but try to seem humble and chill when you do.
My counselor at my college prep program did tell me that Fordham is particularly selective with their HEOP program and that their decisions can come pretty late, but I’m sure you’ll get it before May 1.
