w a i t l i s t e d :: PAsses out from stress ::

Thomas, would you happen to know the timetable for traditional transfer students? ^_^

IF such a thing is even planned out in advance. I suppose they're not even thinking about touching THOSE apps yet. Hehe.

Flipflop...They choose the "traditional" transfer students at the same time as the incoming freshman. They actually have seperate committee members that choose the transfer students, but they don't notify the transfer students of an admissions decision until after the incoming freshman have been taken care of and notified, which is usually about 5-7 days later.

ThomasH32 I just want to thank you for alerting us of all these dates. I know for one that if April 1st rolled around and Brown was still behind and I didn't know about the delay I would be uber paranoid.

I thought they picked transfers later! Eep, as a prospective transfer student, knowing that is somehow a bit nerve-wracking. Nonetheless, thanks for the info!

But then...if we are evaluated so soon after our deadline (March 1), how can we be expected to forward any missing materials? Personally, I mailed all my things on Feb 28, and have received nothing indicating that my file is either complete/incomplete (I did, however, receive confirmation that my package arrived safely). Hmm, I think a call is in order.

And this means we'll still not hear until May 15-16, correct? Phooey.

laurenemma...You're very welcome! I have obtained a great deal of valuable knowledge on these boards from you young adults over the last several months. All of you have really helped me out in more ways than you know. Given my age, I didn't know if I would be welcome here, but all of you have been very kind and considerate. That is why WHEN WE get in, I will be taking a bunch of you out to lunch once we get there (my treat).
flipflop...No, they have a seperate committee select the transfers at the same time as entering freshman (and students like myself). While they are selecting the transfers, if they come across a file that is INCOMLETE, they will either send you a letter or call you informing you of what is missing and allow you to either mail the missing forms or fax it over to the committee (they prefer fax).
I think I feel like calling Brown today to see where they are (I'm in one of those moods :))...I will post any new info...

are you guys waitlisted from ED or from regular? Lucky Charms, etc.

im not waitlisted, just deferred, but i meant if i was waitlisted after being deferred and waiting i would pass out form stress :D

oh, right there with you on that one, waitlisting would be torture. i hope you get in reg with me!!!

UPDATE...I talked to Brown this afternoon and they have managed to catch up to where the Admissions Committee are only about 1-2 days behind schedule, as of today :)

Ugh... I wish one of these days they'd get ahead of schedule or something...

calidan...Admissions Committee members don't get paid a lot money... and this is the time of year where "they" feel their pay doesn't justify the amount of work they have to do :(
They just need to "suck it up" and complete everything on time :)

LOL I have a very poor-paying job, but I don't procrastinate on it. They're slackers!

But I'm hoping to get a way better job soon... as an assistant at a real estate firm. I'm waiting to hear back from them. It doesn't sound interesting, I know, but the pay is verrrrrry nice. ;)

Calidan...if I decide to have my real estate license transferred when I go to Brown (or Penn), I'll hire you to be my assistant...:) I'm sure I'll only do work-study jobs while I finish school, though.

lol sounds good... I'll probably want a small job, too, just for some extra cash.

about being waitlisted, how does that work? How long until you find out that you are accepted or completely rejected?

Well definitely after May 1 because that's the deadline for hearing back from the admitted people. Could be late into the summer though i hear.

Yeah, it's sometimes called the "summer melt." My brother got waitlisted at Vassar and never heard either way.

Don't you have to accept by a certain time though? If let's say I got waitlisted at Brown and then got an acceptance from uconn and replied to them saying I'd go... can I take that back if I find out I got into Brown? I dont' think that made much sense... but i'm dead tired

really? Never?? geez that's awful. way to leave someone in limbo.
But yea supposedly some people hear in August?? That's so late! MORE months of waiting? I don't think I could handle it.
