Not to stir the pot, but, just for fun, I went back and read all of Spoodle's posts. Didn't find any to be particularly negative or critical. I must confess that when I, too, read your previous post, I had to wonder why you waited so close to the deadline to submit a scholarship application. I know things get hectic, and you can sure burn-out of filling out apps and forms, etc..., but it really is good advice to not procrastinate until the last possible minute, especially when the outcome is an important one. Candidly, it sends the receiver a message about how important or unimportant the activity is to you. For example, I have heard that the rapidity with which admissison offices receive a waitlist card sends them a message about how much you really wanted to attend their school. Unfortunately, not that waitlist cards seem to help much...but that's an entirely different thread!

I started turning that into an ad hominem argument...I apologize for the backlash.

The thing that annoyed me was that I never implied that I felt the reason I didn't a Lay scholarship was because of the time I submitted my application. I just felt that someone was attacking me for having some smug superiority problem when I don't feel it was warranted.

I know I should have submitted the application earlier, bad move on my part, but I don't feel it should be assumed I feel cheated when, in fact, I don't.

Have you heard anything from financial aid that will help you make a decision about Furman? I sure hope it works out for you, thiticalrinkinif Furman is still one of your top choices. Good luck. As I said, this can be a very stressful and tiring time. But, graduation is just around the corner:)
