Hey I need advice/reassurance

I’m a sophomore. At the end of the year I will have a 3.66 UW GPA, 3.73 W. My B classes are consistent, math and science both years and a B in Spanish 1 in Grade 8. I’m really stressed out and I feel like I’ll never get into a good college. I’m a public-school student in VA. I would like to apply to W&L, UVA, and possibly Georgetown. If it helps my schedule for next year looks like this:

AP English
AP VA/US History
Spanish IV
Latin II
Algebra II
Chemistry
Business Law (May drop this to take AP US Government Comparative online)

My question is…am I screwed? Also will not taking ADV Chemistry prevent my guidance counselor from checking ‘took the most rigorous curriculum available’?

Another underclassmen freaking out… sigh
enjoy high school.
do your best (whatever that may be)
meet a girl (or boy?)

simply put, you’re not screwed. focus on your test scores, try your best, and college acceptance will take care of itself

I’m in that kind of predicament too but I’m a sophomore with 1 less year to change. How do you think i’m feeling? :P

Alright…thanks man

what do you mean?

Hahahaha I love seeing sophs and froshes think they’re doomed because of their grades. xP Anyway, if you’re worried about taking the hardest classes, just take harder ones next year. And grades/GPA are not the only thing that matters. Essays, SATs, EC’s etc matter too. Take a look around the forum. You’ll see that some ppl who posted their stats online may have a low GPA, but they make up for it in other areas.

i’m in the same situation as you but i realized that if you just keep going at it, you’ll bring it up somehow and you still have two years so no need to worry but that doesn’t mean you can keep slacking now you know?

I had like a 3.3 in my freshman year, and I still got into Upenn/wharton. Freshman year doesn’t matter, haha. Have fun. Please.

^really? i got straight b’s freshman year and my parents were *ed and said i’d probably just blown any chance at ivies [well they were more *ed about my teacher comment s than the actual grades, but that’s another story entirely].

^Some colleges don’t even look at freshman year. ex. Princeton

Who cares? Just have fun.
