Hey if you got a 200 or > ..what was your PSAT study technique

Hey! Does anyone have any advice on how to improve your PSAT scores..any techniques that have worked for you? I've been going over techniques in princeton reviews prep book and learning tons of SAT word list vocab.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Just like the SAT: study a fairly large word list and do practice tests.

I just took as many practice tests as I could. No matter what, I never scored above a 70 in verbal on the practice tests, so I spent more time getting my math and writing scores higher. I got 221-232 on the practice tests, and a 221 on the real thing (M: 80, V: 66, W: 75). The PR tests (one from the book, and one from when PR visited our school) were dead-on, and predicted a 221. I got lucky, cause I got perfect on math.

if you've taken course..did it actually raise your score by 50 or so points as some claim..I really doubt it, but it would be nice to know personal experience

eh, i just studied enough so that i knew how to take the test...

study SAT prep book like mad. PSAT preparation books, IMHO, are not on the level that they should be. i made the mistake of wasting time on a lengthy PSAT book; dont do what i did.

within a 2 month period, i completed two SAT books fully, and i got a 224 on the PSAT. however, make sure your math is perfect; one question wrong on math made several scores go down by 3 points overall.

wow ya..i'm killer on the math section except a couple questions at least on the practice I took sophomore year, but I need major work on verbal..gahh..I study the techniques in the books, but I just don't seem to have time make sure everything agrees with this and that

I just used SAT study guides, because I was studying for my first SAT's at the same time.

Read (and therefore learn) Grammar Rules.

:)

Hmm... my studying included reviewing some math, looking over about 20 vocab words, looking over a few practice tests, and worrying a lot. I really didn't prepare as much as I could have (or should have), but I still ended up w/ a score that will almost for sure get me into semi-finalist, so I'm happy.
