Hey is it ok for 700+200+100 on the UC essays?

do they frown about that? or is it ok? kinda need an answer quick

thxs

i dont think they'd like that, try to cut back on the 700 and add a little more for the 100.. JMHO.

No. As far as I have been told its really not. The way it works is you can go about 25 over per essay, but stick to the rule of 200-200-600. Dont compensate for one by going over and going under for the other.

no its not ok as far as i know.

how about 500-200-300? I can't really expand on my long essay anymore.

Do it if you like, but they say 600 for a reason. They want you to talk about something in an extended essay. Also, 300 words is not okay. I wouldnt be surprised if it got cut off anyhow.

I understand you're having issues expanding... I too am editign/writing my three essays and Im constantly running into roadblocks. But what you're trying to do is bargin with us, as if we can change the rules. You simply cant go 250-250-500, 200-600-300, etc... but me my guest if you must. I would not advise it.

Okay. I'll shoot for a 550 on my extended one (I have about 515) and keep the other two at 200 for a total of 950.

the instructions say "Answer all three questions using no more than 1000 words in total."

does that mean its ok if the essays are like 950? Cause that's how much mine are i think.

You can go over about 20 words on each essay. Mine are, as of now 220, 235, and still not done with the last one. It will probably be 600 or 15-20 words over. Furthermore, the 235 needs to be shortened.

I dont see any reason why you cant be under, but not to the point that ist noticable or all on one essay. I mean, if you finish 15 words under each one, I don't see why that would be a problem.

Mine are 775 + 274 + 240 right now, so celebrate!

did they have this "suggestion" last year?

I remember I did 500-250-250 because I just submitted my common app essay for the open-ended question. And i still got in fine...strange.

I think the big thing is that they frown on that. Also, making the long one 500 words when they specifically ask for 600 gives away that you did it for another school, or in this case most likely for the Common App, and are merely reusing essays. Not that theres anything wrong with reusing essays, but you don't want to let schools onto that.

cate u r hilarious.
wat about mines?? 579, 267, and 191??
should i add more :p
i mean..its ok to have 20 words more per essay right? then i have a total of 1060? then...my essays r only 1038 words. meaning. i can add like 22 more words :D

Your essays are fine except for the 267!

awww...its the EOP one, i dont think i can minimize it >.<..i kinda made the others shorter to compnesate for it.
