Video Game Tournament organized (has not yet taken place, but estimates show that profits should near $1000)

Hook? Well Im a REALLY passionate filmmaker, whenevr a college asks for that generic, write-anything essay its about my love for film. Both of my teacher recs talk a lot about how I'm reknowned at my school for filmmaking, I founded a Film Festival at my school, ummm i might send in a supplemental DVD of my work, wherever possible

im tryin out harvard, princeton, wharton (@UPenn), columbia, brown, dartmouth, duke, rice. sooo what do u think?

Wharton might wonder why you're applying to a business school if you're so passionate for filmmaking, but I'd say you have a pretty good shot at all of those schools. Apply to some matches/safeties too, though - just in case.

You have a good shot everywhere, good luck! BTW- Wesleyan and NYU have great undergrad film programs if you need match/ safeties.

yeah i gotcha man. actually i wouldnt try to emphasize that point as much at wharton. At wharton id make more fo a point of that business stuff I did, and how we made so much money after I came aboard and founded the festival and such. but yeah, im instate to michigan, so U of M is a realllllly good safety for me, thats why im not really applying anywhere less than Mich. i should be hearing from them soon. thanks though

Yeah, that's cool. UM was my safety too...you will get in with some money to boot...

bu bu bump

wow you will get in almost everywhere... wharton is ridiculously difficult to get into, but i think you have a great shot. Best of luck

damn thanks dude. i appreciate the confidence, but believe me, there are waayyyyy more impressive people out there than me. but of course, thanks

I think you'll get into Rice

i think theyre all good reaches, because you seem to have pretty solid stats...only tiny flaw i see is lack of AP's...does your school not offer a lot of them or is it just because you dindt want to take them? rigorous course work is important, but it seems like you like hard work...maybe you just didnt mention it...

I am a filmmaker too...I've had a lot of problems with DVD supplements though...if you want your DVD considered at Harvard, you'll need to find a professor you will comment on your work...anyway, your stats are great and I really doubt there are that many of us applying to these colleges...Good luck.

oh wow thanks safia. to double: yeah, as a junior not many were offered. I guess i neglected to say what im taking this year AP wise: AP Microecon, AP Macroecon, AP Calc AB, AP Physics. Maybe I should have mentioned that.

But to safia: useful info. I applied Yale EA (deferred blech) and when I asked my area rep, when I met him, about the DVD supp, he said to sent it to him as a piece of personal mail, so that it doesnt get tossed away into a bin, like most supplements do. I'll see what I can do though, it might be a little late to try to send it to a professor, and of course, I have that fear that the professor will tear my DVD apart and make me look worse than if i hadnt sent it at all. thanks though!

bbbbbbbbump

All good reaches - you've got a chance because you are indeed a well-rounded, bright person. I find filmmaking to be really intriguing it's cool you are interested in that.

Try NYU. Great school for prospective filmmakers and very diverse. All around amazing school. Consider adding it to your list.

aight thanks

bump

bump damn you!

did someone say bump?

wow, long time no see. bump

would you please let us know if you hear from any of those schools?

The only schools on your list that I can say is like a 50/50 STATISTICALLY is probably Duke and Rice. The rest are reaches.
