Hi, chance me please to these schools. I can try to chance back

I can chance back :D
GPA: Unknown. For Freshman year, I got mostly B's, couple A's - I could justify this since it was the year my father died of cancer, and my mother also faced enormous stress, affecting my focus. All honors classes
Sophomore year, 1 A-, 2 A, 3 A+, All honors classes (school doesn't really offer AP until junior)
Junior year, 4 A+, 2A, 4 AP classes rest honors
I can't say anything for grades during senior year, but I am taking 4 AP's at school, along with a self-studied AP Psychology, and I am also taking Ordinary Differential Equations at a local university (completed math curriculum at high school). Also will finish Linear Algebra online course soon, hopefully with an A.
No class rank.

SAT: 2300, ACT: 34, SAT Subject Tests: 800 Math II, 800 Chemistry. AP: 5 on the 4 junior year AP's, obviously I don't know about senior year AP's.

I have not read my recommendations. I predict that my AP chemistry one will be great, and my AP Us History one will be good as well (but probably not as great).

Essays: I have only really completed my common app draft :) but so far I like it, based on what I think and the little feedback I have had. Definitely not finalized though.

EC/Award: (same reasons as poor grades, my freshman year did not really have much extracurricular involvement)
Debate Team: 10-12
Orchestra: 9-12
Key Club (volunteering): 10-12
Math Team: 11-12 (captain 12)
American Regional Math League: 11, hopefully 12
Moody's Mega Math Challenge: 11, will be doing again for 12. Placed in top 15% of teams during 11.
My family and I participate in the CT Challenge Bike Ride each year. Have raised at least $3000. I bike 25 or 50 miles during the event each year, and my family and I have also helped to organize as well.
50+ hours of assorted community service, for library, church, etc.
National Merit Semifinalist, maybe finalist
1st place on the local chemistry olympiad exam in my county (actually 1st in the history of the county), placed for national but could not attend due to scheduling conflicts
National AP Scholar award (at least 4 AP)
Participated in a Biochem course and Number Theory course at SummeratBrown during 10-11 summer.

Will participate in Yale Physics Olympics in October: we have a good chance at placing well. I already have a team from my school.
Will participate in the Harvard-MIT Math tournament, and Princeton University Math Competition. I already have a team.

Those two preceding involvements will be done by the time I have to submit any regular decision apps.

I have a Canadian Citizenship.

Ethnicity: White
Will be applying for financial aid.
Currently living in Connecticut.

I am thinking about physics, particularly applied physics, but this is uncertain. I enjoy applied sciences, and particularly math.
Colleges: Please do something like reach, match, safety, and you can do things like low reach high math etc.

MIT
RPI
University of Rochester
Waterloo (in Canada)
University of Connecticut
Cornell University
University of Chicago
Columbia University
McGill University.
University of Pennsylvania

This list is changing. I can add or subtract colleges, or really do anything that results in an integer amount of colleges. If you think a certain college I don't have would be good for me, please let me know.
Thanks

I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t get into any of those schools. You definitely have a good chance at most of them, because all of your stats are above average (except for your unknown GPA) but it seems pretty good. However, you can never be sure about ivy leagues and top-tier schools, so don’t take my word for it. But, I think whichever you like the best you should go for Early Decision to better your chances even more. With good essays, you’ll be in really good shape.

UofR seems like it would be a bit of a high safety/low match with your stats, but I’m not too sure about the others.

Good luck!

Thank you for your input! Bump.

bump…

bumppppppp

Very solid. With good essays and recs, I see you getting into most of those schools. I’d say Shoot for MIT ED. You seem like a math/science person. Also, please chance me back!

You know that National AP scholar requires 8 AP tests w/ a 4 or above on each and overall avg score of 4.0 or above, so you can’t be that until the end of this year since you have only 4 AP’s under your belt right now! But no big deal–you are doing wonderfully and have a great chance at those schools!

Impressive work. You are a moderate reach only the most selective on your list. Columbia, U chicago and MIT. Cornell is very close to those three. I would pick a school you rate #1 and apply early decsion. Be sure to check for Merit and finicial aid and watch scholship deadlines some can be as early as October 15. Good luck!

I would borz, but MIT only has EA. And i will get to your thread.
Jennie, I don’t know the exact name (the certificate is stashed away somewhere :P) for the AP award, but it’s the one with 4 AP’s done with above some average score by the end of junior year.

Thank you so much for the feedback, everyone. Good luck to those applying as well.

Bump. I hope that I have enough safeties/matches. Also, some additional info:

I found out that my cumulative weighted GPA is 4.18 (which, according to Naviance, is the average for people accepted to MIT in my school, but is below average for some others on my list), lower than I would like due to my freshman year grades as aforementioned. Excluding freshman, it is a 4.6 (which is probably the highest in the grade). I have requested that my counselor mention my family circumstances during my freshman year in her recommendation letter. I also forgot to mention that I am a very frequent biker and snowboarder (in winter), and that I have taken some Art of Problem Solving online classes.

Your stats are impressive, I’d say you could get into any of those schools, and as for the Ivies: write killer essays and apply early decision. They’re oddly particular, so you never know. Best of luck!
