Is it better to focus on your own good than that of others?

As Dickens said , "a day wasted on others is not wasted on one's self." makes it vindicate that the folk of the present are too indulged in their own intricate that they forget the reason of their being present in the world. They feel that it is duty to focus on what 'they' are or 'they' have to be. They feel that it is justified to remain in a speculative state of mind which rather for their own insight and not for the world around them. This might be supported by another thought of Dickens stated as "no one is useless in this who lightens the burden of it to anyone else." It is well understood that being divisive and uncaring is the way of the new times.
Though the following is superficial but there is a sense of plausibility in it. The conditioned minds say or rather instruct us to be abase to the folk around us and justify our presence by way of giving it's effect to the one's in need. The conditioning is not negative in it's effect and hence credible. We have been taught since our childhood that there is motive behind our occurence. The aim though is not apparent but is present. Perceptiveness is the only acceptable way of experiencing complete happiness. The phenomenon of birth , life and death clearly asserts that the enigma of our contemporary is not contempt. The worthiness of this life , though , can not be felt or understood and also is not offered for free.
Everything has a price and hence undoubtedly has to be paid for. The game’s rules are different though where the reward is offered first and the payment of it accepted later. Life n=being the reward and the deeds made by us , the payment , is a deal and not a present to us. Consequences though might v=be different as for one being abide to the notion of humanity , be awarded with an undetermined value of presents or baits while the other being abdicate toward the same be provided with abjection of life.
‘karma’ , the purpose of all the happenings of the universe and being the decisive factor of the consequences is significant and so as to be far from being abhor , indulging towards the goods the good of others is significantly more important.
The above being proved by what past supports , the shadow of this illusioned thought perplexes the clarity of vision towards the path of life. Being ‘trained’ as all others since childhood , I do not feel any correction that can be made is present in the thought of living a selfless life but as said “change is the only constant” and thus the thoughts and illusions need to change. The world is intricate undoubtedly. The above said is also venomous to the vividness of actions for the betterment of one’s self.
Being born in a modified era is none less than a challenge. Where , at one point of time in our childhood we are conditioned to believe that a selfless life is the only which is not aberrant , but contradictory to that , it isn’t hard to believe that being hostile is the only pragmatic way. Seeming irrelevant and illogical , though , but being an egotist is apparently the most legitimate way of dealing with life’s challenges.
Being opportunistic doesn’t seem to be right or sensible in accordance with the inner conscience of a human , but the emancipated lifestyle on the contrary shows that the crux of the selfish and egotistic behavior of the new and the present generation is justified. Future security , being the most significant concern proves it to be acceptable that focusing on your own good isn’t an issue. What Dickens said isn’t false but Lincoln’s thought too isn’t untrue. As Abraham Lincoln stated that “always bear in mind that your resolution is more important than any other.” Shows vividly that selfishness is impractible and mean but simultaneously unaberrant.

Experiences observed personally support the above stated. The contemptuousness is common among the ingenious generation. The sentiment of cynicism is too indifferent towards the sayings of the past. Exemplifying the disdain does not seem anachronistic. Those having the sensuality of not confusing selfishness with meanness have the intelligence of dealing with the venom and arrogance of the folk of the modern world. Hence they are capable of leading a successful and mourn less life. On the contrary those who lack this ability are the ones who make way for those who are capable of becoming a leader. Leadership is one of the most essential and desired forms of life. A leader occupying the position of the adorable ones is the one who is the most catered and catagorichally the one who displays the real meaning of happiness to the world around. How Neruda’s sayings are made inapplicable by today’s deeds is truly inexplicable. As he said “you can cut all flowers but can not keep spring from coming” is providently made untrue by what is believed or done in the emancipate era.
The spring of good deeds and helpfulness is catagorichally stopped from coming and hence the flowers of wisdom of heart that had been left uncut have died. Where a lot of evidences stated from the past and expirience of the present can predict a part of future , it is still unacceptable that the truest of wisdom that is undoubtedly a loving heart cannot help a person live a life of desire. Desires arising from the intellectual of a human are unstoppable and never ending , though , anything at all which might be helpful in this process of stoppage of desires is the only but very powerful conscience of our mind. The conclusion proved to be illogical through a number of evidences and ideas still remains the same which is “to feel the love of the people whom we love is the fire that feeds our life.” Truly said by Pablo Neruda states explicitly the notion or idea that humanity is the key to survive and focusing on your own good is important but what is more meaningful and understandable is that life without others is worthless and people can be close to us easily but maintaining the bond consistently is difficult and is possible only by abeyance of being abhor towards something. It is well understood that focusing on the good of others gives a sense and meaning to our lives.
