Everyone in here got his/her admissions decision (acceptance) via email (at least yesterday). However, my C was told that Pitt will send the result (which was made yesterday) regarding my C’s application for admissions decision (plus invitation for Med GAP) by regular mail. I am confused…
by the way, we are in state (PA)
@J2H239, Everyone will receive an admissions decision via mail. In the past, we only sent decisions via mail. Now we also send admitted students an email. This is a new thing for us, so please don’t read too much into how your daughter was told the decision would come to her. Whatever the decision she will receive a letter (possibly also an email). You should know the result soon. Best of luck!

Thanks. A Pitt Admissions Processor sent an email to my C that they are unable to give decisions over email. I just worried it might be bad news…
@J2H239, Our processors or admissions counselors can’t send a decision over email, BUT we have an official email we will send out to admitted students. I understand it can be stressful to wait, but you should have a decision soon.
Best of luck!

does that indicate a rejection…
If he has stats for Med GAP, I doubt it is a rejection. Try to be patient.
He is top 1% in a very competitive big public school @600 classmates and sat l reading and math 1520 with several 790_800 sat ii and outstanding essays… If got rejected, I will not able to understand…
Try not to worry. When did he send in his application?
I just feel weird after knowing …email sent to admitted applicant…the decision on his application was made yesterday for sure after he submitted the essays yesterday morning.
By the way, thanks mommdc, seems you have experience on this
Does University of Pittsburgh practice “holistic admission”?
See http://collegeapps.about.com/od/glossaryofkeyterms/f/What-Are-Holistic-Admissions.htm
Online application 9/9/15, sat I am ii late August, assays yesterday morning. The admission processor said decision was made and will sent to home by mail no email.
Well, then you have to wait for mail, should not take too long if you are in PA.
My D got her acceptance letter last year by mail. She got a welcome video as well by email. Does your son check his email?
Pitt only needs sat, GPA, optional essays. If Pitt wants others, he has many state to national awards, significant community services and outstanding recommendation letter.
No email
If decision was made yesterday, you should get a letter soon!
@J2H239, As I said before, a letter does not necessarily mean rejection. We send a letter and an official email to students we admit. The processor who responded to your request was most likely just saying that they cannot tell you the results of your admissions decision in an email conversation. You will hear back through our official channels. Hope that makes sense!
Good luck!
