<p>ECs:
mathletes for all 4 years, maybe officer position next year. freshmen year got 11th in some county competition and soph and junior years each i got a silver medal (possibly some leadership position in that next year don't think those things are worth mentioning)
did CTY one year (also don't know if worth mentioning)
got an article published in local newspaper
in science olympiads for all 4 years
academic bowl for three years, team was ranked first in nation for internet competitions, for in person competitions we participated in nationals sophomore year. Also took part in televised academic bowl competition...didn't even make it to the semifinals though lol (quite possibly leadership position in that next year)
Attended an engineering camp this summer
Also did research at a college this summer
I'm volunteering at a pharmacy at a local hospital this summer
and yeah thats pretty much it for ECs, though there may be some small stuff I forgot to mention.</p>

<p>I'm kind of liberal
I like math/sci, but I also sort of like writing
I'm read a lot of random stuff about anthropology and genetics on the internet
I like looking at political maps
I'm interested in doing engineering, not deadset on a specific field.
Not sure if I want to minor or double major in anything yet...if I do will most probably be anthropology related.</p>

<p>schools I'm applying to:
MIT
Cornell
Brown
Dartmouth
Uchicago</p>

<p>schools I'm applying to which i actually might get into:
CMU
NYU
Tufts
Brandeis
UMich</p>

<p>thank you for reading people!
Also if you have any suggestions, feel free! <3</p>

<p>tenletters</p>

<p>I don't think you will have a problem getting into CMU, NYU, Tufts, Brandeis, or Michigan, provided you really work on polishing your admission essay. I assume you don't normally write this abominably, since you claim to have achieved those very laudable scores on the verbal sections of the SAT.</p>

<p>However, although I do think your academic accomplishments will not go unnoticed by their admissions committee, I cannot foresee you being accepted by MIT.</p>

<p>thanks noumena
anyone else?</p>

<p>char
mander</p>

<p>40% chance for MIT. Try to do something more science/engineering related. That's what they want.</p>

<p>If you're still a junior, you have a lot of time.</p>

<p>You have a good shot at all your schools. Academic stats looks great, although your ECs are lacking. Publishing an article in a newspaper and attending engineering camp don't exactly sound like ECs. And I agree with hieronymus, do something in science. </p>

<p>Have you considered EA/ED? Its said to increase your chances, even though you are in a more competitive applicant pool. I think MIT have ED if not EA. If thats your number 1, I'd consider that option.</p>

<p>MIT has has EA not ED. Try to demonstrate a passion to teh adcom, i've heard that's what they really like such as 1 to 2 ECs that you're very involved in for many years.</p>

<p>"I assume you don't normally write this abominably, since you claim to have achieved those very laudable scores on the verbal sections of the SAT."
Pretentious much?</p>

<p>My predictions</p>

<p>MIT- Rejection
Brown- Rejection
Cornell- Waitlist, 50/50 on acceptance
Dartmouth- Rejection
UChicago- With amazing essays, acceptance</p>

<p>Other schools you listed- Acceptance at all.</p>

<p>Even with EA at MIT I predict rejection. They are a picky bunch.</p>

<p>puffcakes.</p>
