Hi. I'm applying for college.

I want to say thanks for reading in advance

Alrighty, haven't been here very long, but thought I'd give it a try anyway

I'm from New York, and I'm a junior, and I'm Asian.

SATS: 2300 - 700 CR 800 Math 800 Writing (11 essay, 80/80), will prob retake for better CR
PSATS: 218 last year, only 210 this year, unfortunately
SAT2's:
770 Bio
750 Chem
740 World History
740 Math 1C
(Shouldn't have taken those last three on one day :/)

Will Take: Math 2c, Physics (Good chance of 800 on both I think)

ACT: Will take it later

AP's:
5 on World History
5 on European History
Took AP Language, US History, and Physics B. I'll assume I have a good chance of 5 on each, with at least 4

Taking Micro, US gov, Psych, Lit, Spanish, Phys C, and Calc BC next year

GPA is 99.5/100. We don't have class rankings.. but we have around 600 people. All honor/AP classes. Our school's grading system has A+ as highest, then A, then B+. Gotten A+ all except for maybe 5 A's (we have 9 periods a day)

Extra Curricular Stuffs:

Science Olympiads for 2 years
Math Olympiads/ Mathletes 3 years, very possible officer position next year
- First in county as 9th grader, got some type of gold medal this year
Won a Silver medal at a county math fair
Worked several weeks for two summers at a pension company, doing accounting stuff
Volunteered at a hospital, doing some research stuff
National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, National Merit Commendation, etc. And if it matters, I did CTY for a year
Published some stuff in school's literary magazine, and am trying to write some stuff for the newspaper
Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring track for 3 years (and swimming + track/XC in middle school)
Unfortunately I'm not too naturally athletic, but I have a shot of getting All county in Cross Country, as well as a captain position on the team. I might write about my experiences on the team for my college essays... I've improved greatly; my coach has called me his most improved runner ever in his 15 or so years of coaching.

I plan on volunteering at a camp this summer, and will try to do some research, hopefully to enter a big competition, along with training for Cross Country. My friends and I are arranging to make a tutoring club at our school.

Hobbies (If you care)
I founded a forum for gaming/social stuff. It's not that active as of now, but we've had it for around 4 years with 150,000+ posts and probably over 500 people have joined throughout the years.
I have played the cello for 8 years or so, unfortunately I'm not that great
I know a bit of guitar, and I've been doing that for fun

Hm, not sure what else to add, but I want to go to....
Yale
Duke
Dartmouth
UPenn

I'm sure there are tons of good schools for meout there, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, including safety schools

I figured I'd bump this

You've definitely got a good chance (as good as anyone does for the Ivys!).
Don't worry about your SAT2 scores--you're in the range where it definitely shows that you know what you're doing and 20 points either way shouldn't matter much. Those are great scores! Be proud. :) Your GPA is excellent as well.

Could you give us a better idea of what you're looking for in school (besides good academics, of course)? It's easier to suggest more target/safety schools that way. Here are some questions:
What do you want to major in? Which subjects do you plan to take the most classes in?
What activities would you like to participate in?
How about location-- Urban/suburban/rural? What area of the country are you looking at?
What size school are you looking for? Do you care about class size?

Things like that would help. You actually do have some good public schools in New York you could think about for safeties. I know about Binghampton and Geneseo and I'm sure there are a few others up there.
If you want a college guidebook that give great descriptions of schools, I suggest The Fiske's Guide.

Hey thanks a lot for that

To be honest I'm not sure what my major should be. I'm thinking I want to do something business related one day, possibly politics, or writing, maybe even movie making. Whatever the case, I'm fairly sure I want to stay away from Biology/Chemistry and such sciences
As for activites, I'm not so sure what you mean, but I'm sure I'll find something nice to do in any school, I kind of jsut want to get it over with now. I plan on visitng a lot of colleges, and that urban/suburban, class size, etc probably won't play too much of a role in my decision, but I may want to stay on the east coast.

As for safeties, those are defeinetely some choices, but I would ideally try to go somewhere pretty well known. I guess going to the ivy league schools have just been something drilled in my mind for many years now.

And I'll check out that guide, thanks again.

hope no one minds if I bump this again

Anyway from yesterday, I was relaly inspired to just go and save the wrold, really. If I can be a msuciain, a writer, a politician, a businessman, a professional athlete, whatever would be great if I could just get my ideas out there and be able to make a change in the world.

Your SAT score is great and you have some great SAT II's. You really don't need to take the ACT. (Unless you are expecting a 36, which would be fun to get.) Have you had a PLAN or a practice ACT? If the ACT maps to a score similar to your SAT score, I think the ACT doesn't really add anything to your application.

To be totally honest I'm just competitive so I want to get a decent ACT score for bragging rights haha, not sure what a PLAN is though

The PLAN is to the ACT like the PSAT is to the SAT. You take it a year earlier and your GC could use it to predict your ACT score.
