Hi. I'm not insanely impressive like the rest of you...RD chances, please?

I applied to Duke ED, and I'm debating whether or not I should apply to Princeton if I'm deferred/rejected. Any advice/comments/criticism would be appreciated...hit me with your best shot :)

above average chances.

....which isn't saying much RD, with an acceptance of like 8%

....which is exactly what i mean....about 10-15%?

Go for it.
Weaknesses: SAT I (although not bad by any means) and your taking Math I and Math II. Yes, you have fulfilled the three SAT II requirement, but it's like taking Spanish and Spanish w/ Listening. Take Physics.
Strengths: Your research, rank, GPA is also competitive.

Wow, you guys have the fastest response rate ever :)
whoamg...Yeah, Duke only requires 2 SAT IIs, so I figured that, by taking both Maths, I'm bound to get a pretty good score on at least one of them...thus making up for my SAT I Math score. I could take either U.S. or French, but I'm terrible at Physics.

Thanks for the input so far!

i'm not an expert but i don't see how you're any less insanely impressive than most other people around here... i guess it's mostly because you're applying RD. i bet you'll get into duke though :) good luck!

You'll probably get into Duke ED =P

Aww, thanks :) I'm so nervous, exactly one month till I find out...I hope you do well with ED, kraor143!

btw:

princeton admissions said there is nothing wrong with taking both of the maths

Wow youre amazing...not the run of the mill cheerleading captain I must say! No offense meant of course

And I think you'll get in, you're DEFINITELY getting into Duke early with probable scholarship options

lol such a long name...why not goindownswingin?

re matty:

at an info session they said you could take two maths but to meet their 3 sat ii criteria a math could only count for one so ic and iic don't mean two tests.

yea, i was under the impression that they prefer 3 SATII's in different subjects

Even if they count both as different tests, using both of them as two tests shows that you don't feel you are strong enough in other subjects to go take the SAT for it.

b4nnd20: haha, thanks...I actually sent a picture of myself flying in a stunt with my Duke app.

pk12313: I made my username up while I was listening to Fallout Boy's "Sugar, We're Going Down Swinging." Before they became all mainstream, of course :P

Are the December SAT IIs too late for Princeton RD? I might take bio and both maths this weekend (for Duke), then another subject in December...

I don't think that's necessarily true.
What if you take four or five subject tests and do well on all of them, but your best three scores, the three they consider, just so happen to consist of both maths?

just a thought

you're an asian cheerleader? that's a rarity

i think you have a pretty good chance. don't be so modest, your stats are good

cookiemunster2: Yeah, my parents hate the fact that I've cheered for 6 years, and most of their Asian friends think it's the strangest thing...but whatevs. Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not trying to be modest- just realistic. :) I tried SO hard on my Duke app. that it's super hard for me to do all my other apps now...so I'm just telling myself that I'll get deferred, which is depressing but kind of motivating.
