High achievers with Disabilities

Would having some sort of psychiatric/medical/mental disability increase my chances in getting to good colleges like the ivy leagues or anywhere around the top 20's or 30's? Personally, I dont think colleges would disregard the impact a disability has had throughout someones life.

it’s all relative. i’ve been sick for five years and subsequently sacrificed (three) sports, any remnants of a social life, my language elective, and my participation in student government to stay on top of my work. that being said, i’m entering senior year with an unweighed gpa of 3.9 at an incredibly rigorous, all-girl school and have been blessed with fabulous teachers (good recs).

i don’t think colleges will favor you or otherwise for having an illness. let your focus be on how it’s changed you, how you’ve grown as an individual.
