High Math II Score, Low SAT 1 Math Score

I took the 2015 January SAT exam and got a 2190 overall (CR: 700, M: 710, W: 780). I was expecting high 2200s, which I would have gotten had I done as well as I usually do on the math section (at least 780 in mocks). My low math score probably resulted from careless errors.

However, I have an 800 in the subject test Math II, so would this make up for the poor math score on SAT 1? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Are you going to take the SAT again? If you got an 800 on the Math II then you should be fine.

Although in theory, it shows you can do math, theory isn’t always reality. Reality is, some colleges aren’t going to look that far into it. If they were going to reject you for your 710 (which will not be the case for 98% of colleges), the 800 isn’t making up for it. In my opinion, just study up that simpler math, and retake it. You’ll be able to get a 750+, and even if you do worse on the other sections, send both scores, and the colleges (even those that don’t superscore), will see that you can do the math.
