Hispanic male attending NYU's Stern School of Business. Predict to graduate with about a 3.2 GPA, good EC's/leadership positions, and an internship under my belt in finance. I was wondering, my dream has always been iBanking, but is that out of my league with this GPA? Also, are there other high paying careers that I can feasibly get in to? I was thinking maybe something like Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Producing, or Corporate Real Estate, but wasn't sure if I made the cut? How much do these pay? How hard are they to obtain?

PE requires experience or intense networking. GPA is not an issue. They only care about what you can do. If you can prove networking skills and that you can produce quality deal flow you may get someone’s interest. You should get some corporate fiance experience first or entrepreneurial experience.

Consider getting a masters degree or going to law school.

Look into WM at the BB’s. Friend got in with a 3.0ish from a similar program.

I"ve heard that your GPA only matters for your first job or so. After you have more experience in your field, it won’t be an issue. However, a 3.2 is a solid GPA.

If this is true, you should know the answers to your questions from your internship experience, your fellow students and from your career office.

Whether a 3.2 GPA will get you into IB depends on the number of slots banks are hiring for that year, the economy and your luck. But in this economy, I doubt it is high enough.

like I said, “Predict”.
