High-profile IT internship vs travelling in the Middle East & cooking classes?

How should I spend my summer before senior year?

I was offered an internship at a high-profile IT company, but I’m not sure whether I should accept! All my other friends are focusing on making themselves “stand out” in the applicant pool - travelling to the Middle East, taking cooking classes, going scuba-diving in the Red Sea, helping out on farms…

What should I do? Would universities appreciate a high-profile, (extremely!) time-consuming internship more or not?

Please help and do refrain from making negative comments, thank you

None of the things they we doing are likely to stand out. Schools know when students pay for experiences, and they don’t count for much. And essays written about paid experiences don’t get them far, either. Do what you want to go, an IT internship sounds fine, especially if you are female.
