I am applying to the Wharton summer programs and need to put either my psat or sat score down. My psat was a 1300 (about equivalent to a 1370 on sat) and my sat is 1410 since I won’t have retaken it by the time the summer app is due. Is it possible the PSAT score that’s a little lower but they’ll assume I didn’t study for will look better than only a tiny bit higher sat score they‘ll assume I got with lots of studying?
Send the higher score. A lot of students study for the PSAT, so there’s no guarantee that they’re assuming that you didn’t.
The title of this post is also kind of confusing ngl. Its the opposite of the situation you’re describing.
Send the higher score.
My understanding was the PSAT score IS the reflection of how you would do on the SAT, so a 1300 PSAT is more like a 1300 SAT, not a 1370 SAT, although the top score is different for each test.
Leaving aside wishful thinking on your part, what possible reason would make you think they would assume you took the PSAT without studying? And, if they did assume you took a major exam without studying, why would they think that the kind of kid who would take a major exam without studying is the kind of kid they want?
Just send the higher score.
