High SAT, Low GPA

Hey and thanks for reading this, I really need some advice.

So During my freshman year of high school I did really bad. I failed 3 classes and ended with a 1.5 gpa. This was because I was suffering from anxiety and it really made it hard to live life normally. Thus, effecting my school work. After freshman year I got medicine for it and I was back to my normal self again and since then I have managed to get only 2 c’s during sophomore year. And all A’s from junior to Senior year ( 1st semester senior year) which helped me get to a 3 gpa. On my sat I got a 2200. I also have 200 + hours of community service and two internships. I am in 3 clubs and I have taken 7 Ap’s (Bio, Calculus, Econ, Lit, Chem, Stat, us history). All my other classes are gifted/accelerated from freshman year until now (excluding electives other than ap stat).

So I was wondering , is there any chance I can make it into a good college with a 3 GPA (unweighted) but high SAT? If so, which ones ? I live in Georgia by the way and I wanna go to college here , but I am willing to go else where if that means a better college.

Also, I don’t know if this is relevant , but without freshman year, my gpa is a 3.7.

This is definitely something you would add in the other information section of the Common App. You have showed that you are a hard worker and can maintain a good grade once you’ve gotten there. There are plenty of good schools you could get into. I am a little confused though, have you already applied anywhere since you say you are in your senior year?

Since you’re already a senior I hope your GC addressed this in their recommendation. Have you already applied to your in-state schools?

First of all, colleges would see a upward trend in your GPA. That is good.
Secondly, your GC should address this in your recommendation, like other said.
Thirdly, you can put info related to this in your "other info " seciton of the Common App.

Normally high SAT and low GPA combination is undesirable because it implies that the student is smart but lazy in classes. However your case is different, in a good way.

Hopefully your GC addressed your anxiety issue
