Wow - no amount of preparation can get a parent or child ready for September of senior year. My daughter has a great GPA, excellent extracurriculars (in that they truly interest her, she did not pick them because they look good on the apps), pretty strong test scores. THEN - she gets to the essay part and loses who she is. She is a funny, quirky, smart young lady who starts writing and loses that part of herself.

What advice to give her, what words will convey that she has 500 words alone to let the admissions officers know who she is? She is so concerned with writing "right" that she is not writing "her".

We started looking at colleges 18 months ago to minimize stress. that worked ;)
