That’s including room and board, but they’re so spread out you usually can’t commute.

CSU’s are cheaper, but are less prestigious and don’t have research.

Ohhh… Well that’s a little better. lmao. It’s probably like 16-17K here with room and board…

Gosh, when the tuition is really low, room and board sounds so expensive ^.^ lmao

And then you have ivies, whose tuition is like 40K… So then room and board sounds like no big deal. lmao

Tuition is 17k for a UC. Argh.

Some of the ivies also have really good financial aid… I know two people who got accepted to ivies, one to dartmouth and another to cornell. I heard that cornell gave the kid who got accepted pretty good financial aid because I think he’s going next year… And my friend that got in to dartmouth (regular decision) is actually a Canadian citizen and she said they gave her a substantial amount of money that she picked dartmouth over mcgill.

@Writingdog, that is 100% true. If I were to get into an Ivy, tuition, room and board would be covered because of my parents’ income. If you ever tour any of them they give you a little booklet that shows how much people pay based on income. For the most part, if your parents make $60,000 or less, they usually give you full financial aid. Sometimes that number is higher or lower depending on which Ivy. (Dartmouth it’s $75,000.)

"I meant like going to your state school and wanting to go to Harvard Med…Doubt that happens often "

It happens. Local story from ODU to Harvard Medical.

Hello! I’m a junior. I’m going to be the next rachael zoe, while spending part of my life on Broadway!

AP Lit Exam: I am pumped. I am prime. And I am ready. Score of 3/4, here I come!!!

Hey guys, I’m currently a junior. About to take the AP Lang Exam next Wednesday. Hopefully I get a 5. I had a very high 4 on the practice exam.

Just took the AP Calculus BC exam today, too. Needless to say, I’ll be taking that again next year.

We’re almost there guys…

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

^Yes we are. First finals and then summer. And then the torture began…

Go Class of 2013! I want to be a lawyer :)

And I want to be the President! But we can’t all get what we want! lol jk jk.

I want to be an engineer.

ooh ooh me too descuff

I think I do. Or at least that’s what I’ve been telling myself.

I just got accepted to the YDA High School Leadership Academy. Between that and Girl’s State, I’m going to have a very political summer. Can’t wait!

@yankees: Are you good in math and science? I been telling myself that too but it’s pretty much in my area so I might as well.

So how are AP’s going for everyone?

It going well. I think I got a 3 on the AP Lit.

Well, I’m better at Math/Science than I am at history/english.

I sleep through precalc with a 98 average, so hopefully AP Calc AB will challenge me a bit more next year. AP Physics B isn’t too bad. I’m right around the A- (90%) for that class. Next year I’m gonna try AP Bio. I definitely like Math and Science better than the humanities but there’s not much you can do with a straight up degree in math and I don’t think I wanna do pre-med or anything like that. So that puts me at engineering.

What schools are you looking at, descuff? So far Georgia Tech and Boston University are my top 2. I wanna be in a big city where there’s lots of internship/job opportunities. Hopefully I’ll get enough FA and I won’t have to settle for a state school, although New York has some really good ones.

And APs are going well so far. I think I might have gotten a 5 on APUSH (probably a 4 though) and I’m currently studying for Physics B on Monday.
