High School Class of 2013

does anyone know if you are allowed to apply EA to schools if you apply ED to somewhere already? its kind of random but ive never really been 100% sure and i was hoping someone knew that is going to be applying ED as well!

Most you can, but there are a few where you can’t.

Some schools have SCEA. I know Stanford and Yale do and I think another top school has that.

Also, Georgetown says you can’t apply ED anywhere if you apply EA there, but you can apply EA to other schools.

oh ok thanks thats good to know! i was going to wait to RD everywhere but my ed school but thats good to know i can ea to my other top choices!

I kind of want to get out of NY. UChicago is still technically my first choice but Washington D.C. is my FIRST choice.

i am totally with you CSIHSIS i am so done with new york. i want to move down south, and experience a new type of culture and people! plus, i really want to lose my long island accent lol

uh, what RD? Or is that a typo?

lol, classic Descuff

@tennis625 I feel the same way, except… opposite, haha. Can’t wait to get out of this bleep they call “The South” :stuck_out_tongue: Literally everything around me is Tea Party influenced (so it seems), that I have literally been called a radical liberal for my moderate views. Plus, it’s too darn hot. Yankeeville, here I come… honestly the only school I’m seriously considering in the South is Vanderbilt, with USC (yeah, USC is South Carolina down here) being my back up.

I’m applying to Vanderbilt and Emory in the south. (And UNC and Duke if you count those)

Honestly, the only reason I’m applying to Emory is cause there is a studio that takes interns in Atlanta that sounds like my dream job and would give me the boost necessary for a life in that industry…

I know, it’s a dumb reason.

Emory? You mean Coca-Cola University? I thought its campus was really nice.

…no football team though.

Oh, you visited? I feel like I won’t get a chance unless I get in and it becomes one of my top choices, cause I really have no reason to go to Georgia other than to visit that one school.

I really do not care if they have a football team. I dont even really understand how football works anyway.

Vanderbilt’s campus is gorgeous, but the only thing is that is in Nashville which could be good because there would be a lot to do there, but in a way bad because it’s not a college town, if that is what you want.

Also, I don’t understand why people just go to a certain college because of football/basketball. U of Kentucky gets tons of out of staters specfically becuase they want to go to the games. I just don’t get it lol.

And @benfster, I’m orginally from NJ but moved to KY at 11 and hate it. I too, have been called a radical socialist for just moderate views.

Im visiting duke and unc the end of june and georgetown uva and a few others early july. Im pretty sire its a bad idea for me to see duke since im in love with it based on pictures i swaer idek what im gonna do if i dont get in

@alwaysleah yea, I visited. I actually flew down (only like a 2 hr flight for me) and then flew straight from there to Mich. The campus is soooo pretty, and the surrounding area is very nice too.

@MysticalKites I, and plenty of other college applicants, are huge sports fans. Having a school which I can root for is a big bonus. I would pick a school like Mich over a school like Emory because their difference in academics is negligible but Mich has more school spirit and a sports team I can root for for the rest of my life. Choosing a college solely based on school sports is ridiculous, however.

It’s nice that it’s “soooo pretty.” I’m kinda worried about fitting in at southern schools like Duke, Vandy, Emory, and UNC cause I’m really… Californian.

Maybe they’ll all reject me and I won’t have to worry about it  though I am applying to Bama as my backup backup backup school… Always good to have a full ride in my back pocket, ya know?

Random but… I’m applying to Oxford and for an economics major Calc BC is required before matriculation. AB, which I’m taking next year, is a prereq to BC at my school. Does anyone know how to self study BC while taking AB? Or should I just do Calc 1 and Calc 2 at a CC?

I think the only one you might have trouble with is UNC because there are so many in staters. Even though those schools are in the South they have a lot of students from other parts of the country, so you won’t get a “deep South” feeling at any of them. If you go too far off campus at some of those schools you might get into some trouble though.

Yeah, I’m mostly applying to UNC cause public health is one of the majors I’m considering and they’re really good at it. But I’m kinda borderline, I might not end up applying.

I don’t think I’m gonna apply to UNC. I feel like I could get the same college experience at UVA or Mich, but UNC is harder to get into and is worse for the fields I’m interested in.

So does anyone have a limit on how many schools they can apply to by parents?
