i like the ACT way more than the SAT, i took them both, the SAT after taking a class and the ACT without really studying and did slightly better so now im just cramming for the ACT in june and praying i get a 33/34 so i can be done!

Well I’m a math/science person, but I didn’t exactly do poorly on the SAT. =P
Then again, I’m pretty good at history too… so maybe that helped somehow?

I’m more of a linguistics person…
I view things in language. Music? Language. Math? Language. Rules to be followed, some to be broken, etc. If I can “interpret” something as a language, with syntax, morphemes, etc., then it’s easier for me to learn.

I didn’t notice this until this school year, actually. :P

I will say I like grammar for that reason… but I almost view it in the opposite way. I see language and music as math used to make art.
Either way, it’s all connected!

So does anyone here know how college interviews work? ![]()
Especially when someone is out of the area? Is it a Alumni that is the interviewer?

^^When I was younger, I though of music that way (it’s just math in art form!). Now it’s transitioned to language.

^I have nooo idea. I’m meeting with a bunch of college admissions people when I visit colleges though. A name with a face. I think it’s usually an Alumni. My dad interviews people in my city for UPenn.

You meet the alumni at (usually) a mutual location and just talk for like 20-60 mins.

Oh, okay. My architecture major requires me to send in a portfolio and they suggest me also coming to a national portfolio day and also do an interview aside from that.

The only time I have ever heard about interviewing was the one documentary Ivy Dreams or whatever, but most of them lived in the city so I’m wondering how I’m going to get my interviews because I live in suburban KY.

Lol, don’t overthink it. They will contact you. If they don’t, it’s not a big deal. Interviews barely even matter. They’re mostly ways for the alumni to feel connected.

I haven’t started to study too extensively for the ACT yet (I should get on that) but the practice problems I did for the ACT English section were wonderfully easy. I’m hoping I can get a good enough score on that in June so I don’t have to worry about the SAT and it’s funky new policies this fall.

I wish I could just send my SAT Reading section. I got an 800 both times, dang nabbit! And I know I’m much better at Math than my SAT score suggests. It’s annoying.

Wait, new SAT policies this fall?

yes, new anti-cheating procedures… see below

–Photo required to register, appears on ticket.
–Photo checks upon arrival, return from breaks, and at test submission.
–Photo verification by school when scores are sent.
–Standby registration no longer permitted.
–To be adopted by both SAT and ACT this September.

Wow that’s a lot.
I hate having my photo taken too (I’m horrible un-photographic).
I guess this means that I have to do well on the ACT in June.
Crap. Gotta start studying then!

yep same here… now i actually have to work hard on my test prep grrr lol

Uggh I know… and it’s a bit over 2 weeks away.
I’ll start studying next week.
This Friday+Saturday are my relaxation days.
Of the entire year.
The rest of the year, I am always “on”. :P

Got a 720 on BioM. Guess I should give up on the whole Ivy thing.

(kidding…but I am pretty unhappy, considering I took AP Bio)

I took a practice test from the CB Math II book and got an 800. It seemed easy…too easy. Has anyone else taken the first test in the offical Math II book? Keep in mind, I got like low 600s in Barrons preceding this.

Actual exchange at my school:
Girl 1: “I got a 1610 on my SATs, is that any good?”
Girl 2: “Yeah, that’s really good.”
Girl 1: “Okay good, I figured it was.”

Get me out of this place.

Lol 10char

Aren’t ordinary people adorable.
