Thanks for all the responses guys!
I was really wondering, cause I just realized that if I plan on taking it earlier this school year, that it’ll be in a few months. I wanna have a nice space in between the dates I take it, sooo I might take it October. I’ma have to talk it over with some friends hahahah.

@LaPrincesa:
Good luck!!
And I completely agree. I don’t want to take it too many times, but I feel like it’d be dumb for me to not take advantage of at least two attempts.

@writingdog:
I might do the same, but I’m such a slacker that if I schedule a winter date, I probably won’t even study that much, so I might as well do it later in the fall, see how my score is, and study accordingly for a spring date.

@rayna3:
Good luck to you too! And I might have to consider a January date, cause we get our PSAT scores back in December also, and that’ll be a pretty good gage of where I stand.

I think I’ll take it this spring and fall of senior year. Why are you taking it so early? (I’m not challenging you guys, I’m genuinely curious.)

Well… I kind of want to get the first one out of the way. Just to see how I’m doing, and get a feel of how much I need to improve to get my preferred score. I haven’t taken any of my tests yet (SAT, ACT, subject tests) so I would feel better if I spaced out the tests instead of taking them all at around the same time.

@jonnathan: Yeah, I understand where you’re coming from. That makes sense.

I’m taking a January date. It’s right after my first semester exams, and I want to make sure all the math is fresh in my mind. Math is not my strong suit.

You should not take the SATs after November of senior year because colleges usually want to see your SAT/ACT score on your app. If you take it senior year, you’re in for a rush and excessive amounts of stress. Junior year allows you to take the SAT, recuperate and figure out what to do next. Are you guys taking the PSAT at all?

I’m going to take the PSAT in October, SAT in Nov, and a retake of the SAT if necessary in Jan or March.

I’m thinking PSAT October, SAT November or December. Then SAT again in March, USH and physics subject tests in may, math2 and bio subject tests in june, then SAT again in October of Senior year if needed. I may add the ACT in there somewhere too. I’m not sure if I’ll bother.

I took the SAT in June without studying / expecting to do well and got a 2200 (math is where it hurt me… didn’t do too hot in 10th grade math). I’m planning on retaking at the end of junior year.

Do you guys think the PSATs require studying? I’m adamantly opposed to studying for the PSATs/SATs but feel obliged to because everyone else is and not studying would put me at a disadvantage :/

im definitely taking the PSAT in october so i can qualify for national merit scholarship, and i’ll take the SAT in either december or january, to give myself more time to study. i’m a bit worried because i just took this practice SAT and only got a 1300 (CR+M)

i REALLY need to study to get my score up…
im also taking the ACT in junior year too. :)

I’m taking the PSAT for the second time this year; I’m aiming for a National Merit Scholarship, so it’s a bit intimidating. I also plan to take the ACT again in December (I scored a 30 in June). Add in the SATIIs and I’m in for a load of tests.
