High School Class of 2013

Short term to do list:
-Do book interview
-Write news analysis
-find topic to write an investigative article about
-finish this APUSH homework today

Lol, mine’s pretty much like that too…a ton of chapters to outline for APUSH, SAT prep, Econ project, English reading, JRP, and basketball every day for 3 hours…crazy.

I actually don’t have that much homework tonight, but I’m kind of dying regardless, and there’s a ton of long-term work that I should be doing…

we haven’t gotten our report cards yet and I’m really worried that I did badly, although I know I’m doing at least as well as everyone else with the same teachers. I hate having hard teachers this year!!

I’m kind of enjoying this year though…

My short term list…

-APUSH notes tonight, quiz tomorrow!
-Do Calc homework, starting integrals, fun
-Study for ACT that’s in two-ish weeks

Is anyone else getting their midterms back? So far I’ve gotten back two of six… so nervous!

I’ve gotten 4 back so far, A’s on them all. Pretty pleased.

98 on my IB History midterm (I got the stupidest question wrong), and about a 96 on my IB Bio midterm. I’m happy with Bio, as only 11% of both classes scored over 85%. Those were my only true “midterms”, although I had tests in other subjects.

The first half of junior year wasn’t bad. I feel midterms week has opened the gates to Hell. I can seriously already plan out all the stuff I have to do until the end of the school year, and that’s not even taking into consideration the stuff that will come up along the way.

:(

I already got my first semester final grades, finals included :P

PreCalc - 100
Journalism - 95
Gym - 100
Chem - 100
Japanese - 100
Advisory - 100
APUSH - 92

Chugging through my IB Math IA. I’m so tired, and I still have homework and studying after I finish.

junioritis

Lol yeah I got a bad case of juniorities as well

I’m so ready to apply to college and get to the next phase in my life.

True that.

I’ve gotten my first semester grades as well.
Straight As; Went up from Rank 10 -> Rank 5. *****ES WOOT. Seriously, the day I found out I got Straight As was possibly the best moment of my life thus far.

I had to give up Yearbook for grades, which was something very difficult to do…I was very passionate about it but I decided that for the time being, I would focus on grades. But it’s okay, the adviser was a ***** and I’m still doing things I love. :)

Oh, I got a 96 on my AP Calculus BC final (following the 100 on the AB final last year). Oh, how I love math.

Got straight A’s in full AP/IB schedule but class rank stayed the same…because the other top people got straight A’s too. Ugh. Outside the top 10% though, most people can just coast through and still rank decently well.

Junior year, why are you so fruitles…

I wish I knew my grades…my school’s server went down and apparently that messed up all the grades. They were supposed to be posted yesterday but now I keep having to check if I can log in to the server…

Got final exams back though…all As and a B+ in AP Chem which is impossible at my school.

Everyone at my school got owned by IB Chem… I managed to get an A in Chem but a B in Calc BC, the easiest class to get an A in… what is this madness?? Haha i’m just kidding though, i’m pretty happy with my grades. And happy that my rank didn’t plummet because my school is so competitive that one B can drop you from 3rd to 10th. I guess somehow chem saved me? oh the irony.

^ This makes me glad that my school doesn’t do rank, percentiles, deciles, quartiles, or anything.

I’m upset my school doesn’t do rank or valedictorians.

My school does something like with every transcript they send a histogram of weighted GPAs, but its not really useful for figuring out rank other than a general idea…

My school doesn’t rank because we have about 9 kids every year who end up with a GPA above 4.6; getting a 4.6 requires A’s in all classes, including 4 weighted (honors/AP) classes every year (save for 5 weighted classes presumably senior year, if taking a 4th year (honors year) of a foreign language). There are a lot of competitively strong students who would certainly be valedictorians elsewhere, but they might only be in the top 9 or 10 in our class here. To say the least, I’m a bit relieved. This means I don’t have to go all out crazy like the girl in my class who is taking 7 AP classes this year. Gives me more time for learning valuable skills like leadership in Student Council and other classes that are still rigorous and diverse, but not necessarily weighted.
