Golf: Same situation with the science teacher.
Here, we start in early September and end in late June.

well i don’t go to a private school. In the south and some parts of midwest (and other part of the country that i am unaware of ) school starts in earlyish-mid august and ends in late May

This year I had the best science teacher in the world.
However in seventh grade I had the worst teacher I have ever had. He only took the job because he needed a way to make money while pursuing his country music career (I’m being utterly serious). He hated science, he hated us. Didn’t teach us anything. Yelled at us for bizzare reasons. If you asked him a question he would roll his eyes and ignore you. On our projects he graded us on how well we colored.
The best thing we had in his class is one day he brought in his guitar and played and sang for us.
Students complained about him so much and his country career was not taking off so after the first two weeks of this school year (2010-2011) he moved back to Michigan

Any of you guys planning to play a sport in high-school?

i know a lot of people on this thread who are ( @political , @golf definately)
I really would want to but I don’t have the skill necessary. I mean I am athletically challenged. I am not good nor do I like sports (but hey props to those who play sports and play them well) All of our sports teams are extremely competitive and hard to get onto.

I’ll do the bowling team during my freshman year just to get rid of the .5 PE credit. It is a walk on team and you have a meeting once a month. I’ll do it just for the heck of it.

I’ll continue to do dance outside of school. IMO classical indian dance is a combination of a sport and a fine art.

@thenerd -
Isn’t it sad that we get teachers like this??? I hate it when that happens but unfortunately it happend with science last year (I still got an A. but the teacher is so bad! )
@thenerd again, you do sound like a nerd. lol (AND you do sound like you’re awesome! ) I don’t like sport either but I do ice skating because it’s pretty much art. I love music. hey are you a girl or a guy? if you dance you must be a girl, to put you in a stereotype box.
I just got the band schedule in HS. It looks so hectic that I don’t know if it’s a good idea even to be involved in band. But I’m an excellent musician - don’t mean to be boasting. haha but I’m probably one of the best (if not the best) in my area. so I feel I have to be in the band. But anyway the band schedule is so crazy that my parents say I have to cut the skating time. :(

^^ Do Cross Country. No offense to any XC runners, but i find most kids who can’t play other sports usually run.

Do XC. Most people make the time. Only the super- nonathletic people don’t make it. (At-least in my school)

@nomatterwhat,
My science teacher is just like that! She’s literally the worst teacher I’ve ever had!

@shmluza - yes, i am girl
haha i’m only some what of a nerd, and but your right i am AWESOME! bahahaha
But what makes you think i am a nerd? just curious
I’m reallly into music too. I play the piano and sing. I’m pretty good (by no means the best or anything, but good i guess), but more than anything it is just something I love.

@Daxlo5- i did XC all throughout middle school. I was pretty slow but I was not the last person (bottom 20-30 def, but not dead last). At our high school cross country is really time consuming, it is a try out team (with pretty strict timing from what i’ve heard) and practices we run between 7-10 miles. Just not even going to go there. Besides at our school your only allowed to miss 3 practices - so bc of other activities i’d be off the team anyways. Well its not really my thing so i would rather devote myself to an activity that i would actually care about rather than something i hate, you know?

^ I did the same thing in 7th grade then got way faster in 8th. Most people don’t really lik running but they still do it.

I was going to do 4 sports next year but I’m really injured and I don’t see it getting better soon so I’ll only be able to play one and then I’ll like have to do some sort of Drs.'s note so I don’t have to do those sports because my school makes us do two sports or you have to do PE

Daxlo5, I think I posted once that I was doing XC.
We can only do one sport a season (spring/fall/winter), and there are subtle ways to get to do both activities, and sports. If all goes well, fall I’ll do XC, spring I’ll do baseball, and winter I’ll do basketball. There are also a bunch of other school activities (Model Congress, Math Team) and my non-school teams, along with my writing of my own SAT guide. (This is designated specifically for 7th/8th graders.)

@Political
Hey I have a suggestion - you do ice dancing! that serves two purposes - defies the stereotype of a guy and an asian. lol just kidding. but seriously, there is basically no guy in the rink. Once in a while one male skater comes and all the girls fight to dance with him.
Just came back from skating. It feels great! (I’m not a great skater. I just feel it’s great fun and a serious challenge.)

^I’m not sure whether to laugh or run in the opposite direction. LOL.
You’re taking AP Gov next year, if I recall correctly. It’s really easy. I took a practice test and got a 160 something out of 180 (the AP exam).

^dude that’s so not fair that you get to take AP gov. They don’t even have AP gov at my school let alone allow ninth graders to take it. I don’t get why some schools allow ninth graders to APs and others only let tenth graders take a few APs

They don’t let us take 9th Grade APs either. I was referring to the fact that I took the practice exam administered by an older friend.
I think I can take Calc BC in 10th, and self study some APs at 10th.

I’m also taking US government AP. Is it really that easy? you’re a genius. I don’t think it’ll be that easy for me but I’m willing to work hard and get a 5.

At my school, they don’t label a lot of classes that are taught at the AP level AP classes. For example, next year I’m taking “Advanced Music Theory,” but that’s AP Music Theory. Also, there’s “Advanced Economics,” “Advanced Government,” “Advanced US History,” and so on. They’re all AP Classes.

ifax: Macro or micro?
nomatterwhat: I just love government and politics.

My doesn’t have AP classes per say. They have higher level college like classes but you can AP test at the end. They helped invent AP classes and now they believe them to be outdated.
