making movies, playing games, making new friends, oh my!
I love to make movies. I'd like to learn how to make/launch a website

I’m not an upcoming freshman or anything but I must say, it’s nice to see you getting involved right now. Good luck on your highschool years. I’m on my Junior year and I have to say… Highschool, from what I’ve experienced, goes super fast. Don’t forget to get involved… College look at ECs along with volunteer hours and what not. Once again good luck!

My first bit of advice is learn how to spell beginner.

Make sure you have a lot of fun in high school and meet new people and make new friends. But keep some of your old friends too, because you will likely not have them after high school. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Don’t get sucked into the social scene entirely. Study as needed. You’ll figure it out pretty quickly. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or go to tutoring (please, go to tutoring, the tutors need people to tutor!). Take some time for yourself too. Read a book every now and then. Play a video game. Just sit and think for a while. I personally took up gardening my junior year to get some peaceful, relaxing time to myself (I always need to feel busy or I go stir crazy). Just do something that is for you and no one else.

Volunteer a lot. But not to look good for colleges. Do it because it will make you feel good and allow you to become a part of your community outside of school. It really just enriches your life in so many ways.

Don’t join clubs you aren’t genuinely interested in. You will just waste your time. Join activities you are passionate about so that you can excel and become a leader.

Most importantly, don’t burn yourself out. But remember, its better to burn out than to fade away. So strive to do the very best that you can do, while maintaining your sanity and health. Challenge yourself but learn your limits.

By the time you’re a senior, you’ll be really glad you didn’t just sit at home and waste time throughout high school. It feels really nice.

CC has defs gotten a lot nicer. I remember when I was this younger and I was on CC (although I was mostly on here for Prep School Admissions) people were all like “get the hell off cc!” and at this time we were actually incoming sophomores not incoming freshmen.

Sweet, I’m not the only kid in the class of 2015 on CC!

@shmluza,
My brother’s really interested in making movies and video editing. He has this program called FinalCutPro which he uses to edit videos and stuff. I think he also has Adobe After Effects, which is also pretty cool. If you’re into making movies, definitely get these programs. (They might be a little expensive…)

Also, this month there’s this cool program you can do if you’re interested in screenwriting. It’s called Script Frenzy, and its run by the same people who run the National Novel Writing Month. I’m not doing it, but my friend is. It looks pretty cool and here’s the link:[Script Frenzy](http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/)

I think it’s great that there is a thread dedicated to the class of 2015, especially because I don’t think there a lot of incoming freshman on CC!

Don’t underestmiate the power of ECs - they help you when you are too stressed with academic work, have fun, make friends, espeically they let you see the human side of all your efforts. They will also pay off when you apply for colleges.
