High school class of 2016

Sorry that was a reply to @Foodlover001

I didn’t know there were so many Class of 2016’ners…:D

Haha we’ve been flies on the wall for a while but now that we’ve begun posting we’re like cockroaches. You can’t get rid of us! ¯(ºдಠ)/¯

^lol right

Bassoonapus? Answer my question, please. :D

I’ve never seen puss come out of a bassoon.

Why is it that all older students seem to think it is too early for us to either start a thread or be on CC?
I mean we’re practically HSers in a couple of weeks. And are we not intellectually prepared to engage in their “sophisticated” discussions here on CC?
Come on people, stop telling us that its way too early for us to begin thinking about college, and try encouraging this young group of overachievers to work towards our goals and such.
So, I think I speak on behalf of all of us 16ers when I say, either post something useful on our thread, or post nothing at all. :)

^Hahahahaha…I think CC is very informative for rising high schoolers who don’t know what kind of classes to take, etc…

Did anyone else get accepted to any really good High Schools?

I don’t really mind them. I mean, I guess we are sort of invading their territory and truth be told I’d probably be annoyed too if some middle school kid decided to show up and start talking about their five year plan to get into Harvard or something (not that I’m saying you guys do that).

@moveitlikebernie: I DID! I’m super excited. Now, all I have to do is have my skin clear up and get even, grow a couple of inches, and lose the stomach. I refuse to Enter HS being a shrimp.

Lol I’m going to my local public school.

In response to AmbiD77:

It’s not really the fact that you’re still in middle school. Kids your age should not have to be worried about getting into college. It’s great that you’re preparing for the future and thinking about stuff like this, but it’s just so easy for 8th graders to get way ahead of themselves. Kids worrying about not being good enough for ivy league schools when they haven’t even started high school…it’s ridiculous. Enjoy high school while you can. You shouldn’t really be concerned with college until second semester sophomore year at the earliest in my opinion. I didn’t even think about college until like october junior year.

Being on CC this early in your high school life (which doesn’t even exist yet) can add so much unneeded stress. I see kids on here going crazy comparing their stats to other overachievers and it’s so unnecessary. High school should be about making new friends and growing up and preparing yourself for life, not about “How many APs do I need to take for X College?” or “Will one B+ ruin my GPA and college chances forever???”. This is why if I have kids they will not be allowed on CC until at least junior or even senior year, if it’s even still around by then. I know I probably sound crazy and all you will ignore this post and continue to obsess over college that is 4+ years away, but I just wanted to share/rant my thoughts.

It’s those kids who post their “4/5 year plans for getting to Harvard” who give you guys a bad rep in my opinion, and I feel sorry for them as they will have no chance to enjoy a somewhat stress-free life while they can.

^ This.

Live your lives because if you’re worrying about college now you will all lead a sad few years in high school.

Oh, and part of the reason that this thread annoys me is considering it’s the “high school life” thread. None of the Class of 16 is in high school haha.

Well we aren’t in high school yet, but we will be soon. I’m not worried about college yet, far from that. And it wouldn’t make sense if only high schoolers were allowed on CC because what about the prep school admissions section? That is used mostly by 8th graders! That is the only thing I read on CC, except for the occasional post in high school life. I’m not worried about college or the future that much, it is the minority that is the people you speak of.

I agree with my fellow prep school admissions viewer, Andover 2016. I don’t come here to talk about my stats. Usually I completely ignore threads that I see about stuff like that. I don’t really care (or want) to go ivy league. I just wanted to read these threads so I could learn a few things. What goes on in HS? How other HS students think? Things I should avoid doing?

Also, I wouldn’t be so quick to say that we’re too young to be on CC. Most of us aren’t even looking in the college threads. Also most of us who are on here are (generally) pretty intelligent and can engage in meaningful conversations over advanced topics with “high schoolers”.

Basically, we’re on here asking you, older people because we don’t have actual experience yet and YOU do. You should be more than willing to help out someone younger who is concerned, doesn’t want to make mistakes, and is just curious.

Also, I wouldn’t block CC for my kids because it was a very helpful tool in he admissions process to my high school. I’ve learned so much from what I have read and that has really helped me. I wouldn’t want to deprive them of a tool used to connect people with similar interests.

CC should not discriminate based on how old you are. It’s an open forum in the PRE-COLLEGE ISSUES section. If you ask me middle school is pre-college.

^^I second that.

I agree. I don’t want to go to Harvard or Princeton or any ivy league university. I registered here for high school advice. And while I have started browsing colleges a bit, I’m not worried about it at all yet.

Basically what I was trying to get at was that the kids who DO obsess over the stuff I mentioned give you guys a bad rep. Obviously it’s not the case for all of you. Coming here for advice is fine, just don’t make preparing for college your whole life and you’ll be fine.

Don’t worry, fanatic. I only come here for the fun and the occasional intellectual arguments. And to make fun of how uptight some CCers are.
