High school class of 2016

AP biology? Whaa? Lol you make me feel inadequate.

Oh, and welcome, I guess. ¯(ºдಠ)/¯

Haha yeah, there’s this biology competition and I REALLY want to do well XD (Biology Major, I hope!)
And I’m sure you’re doing great, too!

Nice to meet you and everyone else!

Your schedule is great, MathGuy! Personally, if it were me I wouldn’t take 3 APs freshman year, but if you think you can handle it, I say go for it! I give it a 10 :)

Thanks, kimm1234! Are you also a freshman in high school?
Sorry if I’m sounding kind of pretentious about my schedule :stuck_out_tongue: Besides, there are people at my school who do even more XD

Ahh summer, the one time where you can be a nerd and study your butt off for next year’s APs…

Yup, I’ll be starting high school in August. And don’t worry about it, I applaud you for challenging yourself like that!

Starting today, I’ll be reviewing/teaching myself Algebra I and Spanish I to prepare for freshman year. Definitely not as hard as APs, but my school is dumb and won’t let summer classes/self-studying count as actual credit until after sophomore year. -_- So all I can do is prepare myself in the hopes of impressing my teachers and getting good grades, lol.

Same deal with me! You have to have a certain amount of credits before summer courses count. I would still like to self study an AP over the summer just to get myself familiar with the coursework. Any suggestions?

mdsquared, I think I heard somewhere that AP Psychology is pretty easy.

Dayummm.
And AP Psychology was a ton of work at my school.

Jonnathan, do you have any other suggestions?

Ah, I guess it depends on the school, then. I thought I saw a thread around here for easy APs.

Edit: Found it! This may help you: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/1346146-how-easy-self-study-ap.html

This is kind of off topic but, when is the final national spelling bee? :D

It was last night! A girl named Snigdha won.

Have you guys begun preparing for next school year? (bought clothes, started summer reading list, supplies, utensils?)

I bought To Kill a Mockingbird months ago because I knew I had to read it for Honors English, but I haven’t started it yet. I have a book buying problem - I have literally 25 books that I’ve bought but still have to read. I also started the first few pages of my summer algebra homework.

As far as supplies, I haven’t bought much besides some stuff for my locker - a dry erase board, magnetic pads of paper, etc.

Oh I loved To Kill a Mockingbird!!! It is wicked complicated though. Tons of plot lines all related and interviewing, also a lot of commentary on current events. Loved it. You have summer homework? Not fun.
I haven’t had a locker since 5th grade and I never really used it. In my current school we have open faced cubbies. They sound childish, but they’re twice the size of a locker.
I’ll be a day student so I haven’t bought anything for next year. I don’t know what I’m going to use in my locker next year, but apparently some students barely use theirs at all…

I’ve never had a locker before. I have no idea how to use a lock or the combinations or anything, so that ought to be fun…

We have lockers in my middle school.

I’ve started mentally preparing for next year, but not really physically doing so. I only have to read two books this summer, which is a lot less then I’ve had in the past. I’m not even bothering to review math considering I’m essentially retaking a class the first few months.

The lockers at my new school are HUGE (I can fit in them). I cannot wait to actually have room to put my stuff.

Yeah, the lockers at my high school are pretty big too. My middle school had a pretty good math program, so next year I’ll pretty much be reviewing everything I learned last year. I don’t know if I should be disappointed because I won’t really be learning anything new, or happy because I can catch a break in at least one of my classes.

I’ve bought my summer reading books, but we only have to read 2, weirdly. My school is connected to the high school so it won’t be that hard of a transition in terms of lockers and hallways, because I also had a locker in middle school.
@kimm1234 This was my first year using a combination lock and stuff, it was super annoying at the beginning, but you’ll get used to it in a couple of weeks! But make sure to grab everything you need before class, because I was late a bunch of times since I still wasn’t used to opening my locker. Good luck!!
