Freshman year is goin pretty well. Just finished up my sixth week. I’ve joined debate. My grades are all 95+. And the last day of the quarter is September 28. Hallelujah.

Wow, good job on the 95+ in every class. And dang, the quarter doesn’t end for me til November 16th (or later, if I get any snow days).

I can’t believe you have 95+ in all classes! It’s only the first week of school and I already have an A-. But then again, that was based on one quiz so I hope it goes up before the quarter ends.

jesus christ. november 16? the only reason my quarter is ending so soon is because I started school on july 23.

@EveningSwan it’ll be fine. it’s just the first week of school and like you said, you have plenty of time for it to go up.

Wow, my school starts in September and we don’t go by quarters, we do semesters. So like from my scheldue, I would have biology from September to early January

Oh, at my school we take the same courses all year long. Except for like health. And we have four quarters. We get a break in between each one.

AP physics as a freshman? Wow. Impressive. I thought you had to have more than just algebra 1 and geometry under your belt for that.

If it doesn’t work out you’ll skip algebra 2?

Oh, gotcha. My school doesn’t have block scheduling. Le sigh.

@Swinter That sucks. I have block scheduling at my school and it’s great. Sure, classes are 80 minutes, but they don’t seem that long, and I’m able to get ahead in math because of it. If everything goes well, I should be able to take AP Calculus BC my junior year, and maybe even take a math course at a community college my senior year.

In middle school all my classes were 70 minutes long so what’s ten more? But yeah, I have a couple opportunities to get ahead in math too. I can take pre calc at a community college this summer, or I can take a course called brief calc sophomore year which consist of pre calc and calc AB or can take calc AB and BC summer after sophomore year at the local university in a free program.

our tardy policy is so strict. After the tenth, one tardy and you get a referral. On a lighter note, high school is so cool!! i love my classes, teachers, everything!

we have this thing called sweeps. as soon as the late bell rings you don’t go to your class. even if you’re right at the door, the teacher will make you leave. you go straight to the cafeteria where you sit and do nothing but stare at the wall for the entire class period. no reading, sleeping, homework, etc. we don’t have tardies. when you go to sweeps it’s counted as an absence, which sucks because if you have an unexcused absence you don’t get to make up your work. and if you had a test that day you don’t get an extra day to prepare, you have to go in after school.

I think it’s so lucky you guys have modular courses so you can get ahead in certain courses, take different courses, etc. For us, in addition to a couple of compulsory ones like English, Foreign Lang, Math (and PE!), etc. we get only 4 content subjects. I’ll be doing Physics, Chemistry, Literature, History. And I’ll be doing that for the rest of the years in this school! And we can’t get ahead or anything.

And our tardy policy is part of this whole Booking System thing. Basically 3 bookings in a year and you get Detention. 7 bookings and your name goes into permanent record, meaning you can’t get any scholarships. That’s about the worst you can do here because the school I’m at everybody is on government merit scholarships. And you can get booked for anything - improper uniform, no name tags (yes, we have name tags and badges), blasting music too loudly, eating outside the cafeteria, etc.

We have a tardy policy where if you’re late, you have to go to the attendance office and get a pass. The thing is, sometimes there are so many people that are late, so there is a huge line just to get into the attendance office. In middle school, we had it where if you’re late once, it’s a warning, if you’re late the second time, you get detention, 3rd time, it’s a talk with the principal, 4th time, I think they bring your parents in for a meeting. I’m not sure what kind of rules they have in my high school for multiple tardies. I only know about the passes.

@BurningIce wow, what kind of school do you go to? Is it public?

If youre tardy enough to a class, youre not able to exempt the exam in that class, even if you have a 100

If you have more than four absences (which includes tardies) then you can’t be exempt from the final exam even with a 100 in the class.

Oh, a few days ago. Yall came close to guessing my school
