It isn’t a getting-sick season now in school, but it seems like a getting injured one. We have a couple torn ligaments, dislocated knee, dislocated ankle, broken arm, etc.

@gonewiththeair Ahh, I’m so terrified for PE, haha. First semester I have health but I have to take it second semester. At least I have it last period, I guess.

No uniforms here (US), even though we’re required to wear this ID card. But I went to school in Singapore for two years, and their uniforms were really strict- had to wash my shoes every week to keep them white, LOL. Also they made us wear phys ed shorts underneath our skirts- so hot and uncomfortable.

No uniforms for me either (some public schools around here do though), but like CherryRose, I have to wear an id as well.

Do you guys have to wear your ID around your neck on a lanyard or something? That’s what some of my friends had to do in middle school.

My school requires us to wear IDs, yet after one to three weeks of getting them (we haven’t received them yet), so many people just stop wearing them and nobody really cares, except for some teachers. This year it’s required that IDs are worn on a lanyard, instead of having them on backpacks, pants/belts, etc.

Hm, interesting. We get our IDs on the same day we get our schedules. I hardly use mine except to buy lunch.

I’m not sure what an ID really is, but here we’ve got to wear name tags and also have got a student card issued by the government which we can use to pay bus fares and also scan attendance in school. Some schools here with automated gates use the card to tap in.

I guess our uniform rules are very harsh but I’m used to them. In Singapore, all schools have uniforms. Our shoes have to be 80% white, our hair ties must be black or dark blue, no ankle socks, etc.

80% white? How do you measure that?

ID stands for identification.

@Swinter - It’s pretty much open to subjective interpretation, but basically you don’t get booked as long as far more than half of your shoe is white, and the colors can’t be striking like neon green or anything.

Oh, that makes sense. What kind of shoes are popular with people our age in Singapore?

Mostly we just buy normal white school shoes, the unbranded and cheap type, or Addidas/etc sports shoes . On days when we get to wear casual attire, we usually wear canvas shoes or something similar. Because we’re in school most days, sometimes Saturday and holidays, my shoe cupboard at least is pretty much mostly filled with sports / canvas shoes. For the rest I just have a weird mix of heels (to wear with formal uniform / dresses / etc), sandals, slippers, I guess? The school I’m from is pretty nerdy and we’re not that big on brands and trends and everything, at least not in 8th Grade

@BurningIce I’m from hong kong n I guess we pretty much have the same stuff as well hahaha

hey 16ers! I haven’t been on for such a long time cause schools been super hectic, but anyway, how have the first few weeks of high school been for everyone?

The first eight weeks of high school have been pretty good. After this week I only have one more and I’m finished with the quarter! Whoo! How about you? How’s high school been?

Last week was fun . This week is horrible . I got a bad grade in Chinese class and didn’t do the History quiz really well. Also, I am running for Class Council and don’t know whether to start .First two weeks of high school I feel tired and excited . I am tired of keep following my friend from place to place. Even though I have friends to eat lunch with , i feel alone because no one talk to me. High school is kinda fun because of clubs , election, classes, sport, dance, etc…I try to get involved but I wonder I really like to do it or not , is it a right choice …I think i should stop worrying and enjoy freshmen year

Everything’s going a lot better than expected so far! I’m keeping up with my schoolwork and only getting a B in one class, which is really surprising to me to be honest. I hope I can keep it up!

GAHHHHHH high school! I want to jump off a cliff right now -_-

Academic team is going well. We had our first meet and we’re 3-0 now

High school has been pretty good so far
I just joined Model UN, the literary magazine, anime club, creative writing club, and the instrument/band thingy as a first flute…
And I’m supposed to do museum volunteer work during the weekends too,
Plus after school (well, after the clubs which end at 3:00-3:30) I do research at this ophthalmology center. It’s pretty cool :]
The workload isn’t that tough. I only class I’m struggling with is Chemistry Honors with a B+ right now. Oh, and gym… I have a B+ in that too. Other than that, I’m doing great!! For now, that is.
