High school class of 2016

Lol you can’t see it on the iPhone app

Testing the colors :)

This should be red  Ooh, you’re doing debate, lucky! That’s one of the maybe, three things I miss about brick-and-mortar school - debate team opportunities.

Oooh, Yale has a modern Middle Eastern Studies major <3 <3 Yale’s lookin’ pretty good now, haha  I’ll definitely shower you with questions at some point, haha - I’m doing a lot of college research this year because I’m going to study abroad next year. 6 visits, gosh, I’m behind, I live near 0 major colleges and have visited 0 colleges. Well, I walked through Pitt once XD.

Yeah I love debate. At my school, I am the ‘jock’ because I won a few national robotics competitions and am crazy competitive. This can be good, but it can also antagonize me. From myself.

Also, I know a lot about colleges and I would love to help a fellow 16’er out. Do you have a specific geographic location or something because currently you are all over the map. (Not a bad thing)

there are no parenthesis for the specific color, but other wise good !

Any of you watching the debate? My speech teacher is giving out extra credit to those that watch the debate and write down some speaking skills noticed.

On an earlier note, I’m taking the computer science class from Harvardx and the chemistry class from MITx. I’m trying to see if the comp sci class can be counted for my technology credit. I also want to see if I can take AP chem next year after taking MITx. Anyone taking courses from Coursera?

I’m so glad you guys like edX, but how do you feel about the level of the courses. Some of them have pre-reqs so that you can see whether you could do well or not. But then again, it is free and only beneficial.

What is coursera?

Oh, not watching the Yo Mama (Debate)competition tonight. I’m on CC. And trying to do homework. Again.

FACEPALM

I’ve got no school tomorrow, thankfully. A long needed break from school and the world.

Courser is a site with almost 200 free online courses from many colleges all over the world. It’s basically edX but run by different people.

LOL MOMENTS TODAY:

Got a 92 overall in Health…the cutoff for 4.0 is 93

I subscribed to the thread so I can auto-respond and have random post hemorrhagic behavior at 9:40 when I have to homework

THE MAGIC OF COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL
(I nearly typed that without Caps Lock)

Wow Coursera is really cool!

Thanks A Lot!!!
:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Thanks, I was looking for that!

Ooh I love online courses. I’m taking them in AP Chem and AP stats next year on VHS (my school pays for them) Freshmen here aren’t allowed to take AP courses because we have mandatory health/tech/phys ed electives, which makes me so sad!

I don’t have a natural proclivity for debate, but I’m part of Model UN!! We’re having our first meeting next Thursday :]

Cool Gat!
I have a debate competition tomorrow at my school, so I hope to do well. I wanted to join Model UN…if my school had it!!!

I hope you are having fun though!

And omg I have sooo many goals this year. Get straight As, do good research w/ mentor (immunology), get a medal on National Latin exam, score near-perfect on SAT subject tests, save enough money to run a Science Olympiad club, and improve my flute/piano skills :stuck_out_tongue: + so much more

People call me a tryhard.

But I enjoy what I do, for the most part ^__^.

@Apollo11: GOOD LUCK!!! :DD

Last post for the day, but where are you guys from? I’m assuming from the East/West coast.

Bostonian/New Englander here  Where college competition is pretty… well, competitive.

I live in Connecticut, in Stamford. It is a suburb of New York and very close to Greenwich, CT. I live in a poor/ghetto town, so we only have 10-11 APs in our school and not a lot of the same opportunities, but I am trying to do my best.

However, among top students, there is an intense competition. That is actually why that girl was stabbed…

@Apollo My school has Model UN but they have a 30 student limit so I might try it next year. It does seem fun though!

@TheGreatCatsbyx Boston is my favorite city! Thats where I’m aiming towards going to college.

And now this is just something thats been on my mind all day today.
I’m in only one honors class this year and thats geometry and I’m doing average in it and its kind of upsetting me because I thought that maybe next year I could apply for all honors but I don’t know. My friends say I’m getting worried too early since its only October but sigh…

In my junior year I want to apply for some AP classes but its super competitive here too.
