@ Apollo I think your stuff made the screen so long I had to scroll for ages for the quick reply box!

Anyway got back a couple of results today - A+ for History, Science, Math, A for English and Chinese. Was pretty disappointed with the Chinese grade - a 73 though it’s an A - but our scores are sorta curved and the whole cohort did pretty badly. But STILL I got a 73! Lowest score I got for Chinese ever. And I really need to do something about it - Chinese’s supposed to be my first language!

Oh my goodness I haven’t replied to this thread for quite some time…
well, school has been pretty good, for the most part. My English grade dropped from a 96 to a 93 (A-) == Like I said, my English teacher is trying to sabotage my grade, I hypothesize. My classmates all say that I’m her favorite student but no I think she secretly hates me…
Got an 82 on my latest math test. STUPID. LITTLE. MISTAKES. I can’t believe I’m making the same dumb mistakes in Algebra 2 that I’d make as a student in Pre-Algebra ==.
Model UN meeting was amazing. I’m sold.
I’ve also decided to create my Science Olympiad club next week. I’ve got a couple of friends who can help me make it happen, a few upperclassmen who can help me, and yeah.
Volunteer coordinator at the science museum still hasn’t gotten back to me… after 2 weeks I sent in my application. It was a pretty strong application too, not to toot my own horn =__=. ■■■ is this because of my age?

@Swinter: yup sadly my school does… but at least I can attempt to attain an A (no A+s at my school) because this grading quarter ain’t over yet.

Aw man that sucks. I’m pretty relieved my school doesn’t do that. All I have to aim for is a 90.

Uh, this weekend I am planning on sleeping. Like, I don’t know what’s going on, but all of a sudden my eye balls hurt like a mother. I can’t look up or to the side, if I want to I have to physically move my head because my eyes hurt a lot. I think it’s because for the last few days I’ve only been sleeping about six hours a night. Which I know isn’t very little, but it’s definitely not enough for me.

Oh wow. I’ve mastered the art of all-nighters since 7th grade (yes, I was stressing over freaking middle school and I also had this horrible Maplestory addiction that I now regret, but whatever…) which explains my panda eyes. And I’m so jelly over your school’s grading system: depending on the rigor that would make my life and stressors so much easier TT_TT
This weekend, I’m going to be taking my usual extracurricular classes for 4 hours. Then I’m going to be studying at the library like a mother and do some more research on my science fair topic. For dinner I might go out with my friends and just hang out like we normally do.

Wow, you seem so involved with everything. Like you seem so much more productive than me.

This morning we didn’t have any cucumbers so I put freaking tomatoes on my eyes. Like I washed them and I didn’t cut them I just held them to my eyes. And when my dad saw I told him I thought they were apples. Because I didn’t want him to enforce an earlier bedtime. smh

@ TheGreatCatsbyx I’ve had the volunteer experience too - I contacted a local history museum and they told me that I was too young to do it. Said I couldn’t juggle it along with high school but when I’m in college I can come back (so college is supposed to be easier to juggle?)

And anyway Swinter don’t get me started on extracurriculars! I bet mine are much worse than yours lol like kids around here are generally more focused on academics than extracurriculars sometimes? And our school has very structured extracurriculars - they’re quite intensive (say 2-3x a week for 2-3h?) but you have to apply for special permission to take more than one main activity. And taking more than 2 is virtually unheard of. So when I’m in school I think I’m doing ok but coming on CC really makes me feel bad about myself.

Ha, the only extra curricular I have is debate twice a week for an hour. I signed up for a bunch of clubs at the beginning of the year but they’re super inactive and the last meeting was like two months ago.

I can’t wait until marching band is over. It’s twice a week for three hours, but practice doesn’t start 'til 5 so I end up staying after school for two hours and then practicing for three. When it’s all said and done, I don’t get home from school until 8:30. We also have football games every Friday which wouldn’t be that bad if our team would win for once… And then we have competitions every other Saturday.

Academic team is starting tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous because we have tryouts to see who makes varisty and jv.

Up until now I’ve been lurking college confidential and I thought I was the only freshmen that went on here… Glad to know I’m not alone.

Anyway, yeah I like high school much better than middle school, but it’s definitely a lot more work. I managed to get straight A’s for the first quarter, hopefully I can keep it up.

Does your school count Coursera? I really want to, I signed up for a few, but my counselor says that I need transcripts for it to count for college :/

What’s Coursera? And thanks Swinter, yeah after going on this site I realize that to go to some of the colleges I want to layer, I need to get straight A’s.

Some colleges that interested me is, Duke, UF, and Tulane

@easysafe coursera is basically a website that provides college-level courses for free
Quite a number of universities all over the world are offering courses on the site

Welcome to CC!!! I always thought that I was the only freshman too, but then this thread was created!! I’ve been so busy…I haven’t been on CC for a while.

Do you think edX will count? The professors grade each homework and they do give out a letter grade, but it doesn’t show up on your certificate (if you get one).

@rykun97 I’m so jealous you found a place to volunteer at that will accept you for your age! Most places here is you have to be atleast 16, and you have to be 18 without parent supervision. I called a local hospital the other day and they said I had to be 14. For a split second, I thought I was already 14.

For all of you 2016ers wondering where to volunteer, try a food pantry…I started volunteering at one in the summer after 7th grade…or was it 6th?
