High school class of 2016

@FoodLover thanks! Yeah I think we’re all a little crazy for being this crazy about colleges this early. Well at least I think I am.

^And another volunteering opportunity is at the hospital. For those interested in the medical field, another benefit for volunteering there is that you can see what some of the jobs they do there are like…

Ugh, I applied for a volunteering job at the museum of science, but they said they had no positions available? They told me to submit my application again early December. They didn’t even /look/ at my application.

The clubs at my school are reallly inactive too. I’m only in four clubs; Model UN, Instrumental, Anime Club, and Creative Writing Club. I might join a couple of other clubs too. I also am in the process of conducting research too, which will consume most of my free time because of the one hour commute to Boston. I really really want to create my own science club though…

By the way, do you guys know of any scholarships/competitions we freshies can do? Academic competitions, essay competitions, heck even poetry writing. Excluding Intel MSEF, Olympiad stuff, etc. Links and info would be greatly appreciated ^__^

Always have to do the work for the freshmen…you all should learn to do it for yourselves ;). Haha, glad to help. Check for some local stuff, I entered a local writing contest in 8th grade and won $100, and it
s open for all middle and high schoolers. See if there
s something local.

Anyways, here: <a href=“Scholarships A to Z - BigFuture Scholarship Search”>Scholarships A to Z - BigFuture Scholarship Search;

Fill that out, and it`ll give you a customized list.

So… My homecoming was on Saturday. :D

Ugh i didn’t get straight a’s goshdarnit

^It’s not the end of the world…My English teacher (which has a very hard class) always tells us that grades are like tissues. In your lifetime you’ll use up a lot of tissues, and sometimes you might not blow very well into tissues, in other words, you don’t get everything out. It sounds so weird, but he tells us this every time we do poorly on a quiz.

^^ I guess sometimes grades aren’t too important? Like if you’re good at something, your track record will even out and show that. Like, I’m supposed to be good at Math but I flunked a test with a C, but eventually it still became an A+ - I guess work on identifying the weak points, not just analyze the mistakes in the paper, and work on those? Performing consistently well due to skills is more important than your luck in that one paper or quarter or those few assessments. And you’ve still got time before year ends right?

We’ve got back our final marks for the year too, and mine’s a 3.77 UW for 1 B+ (3.2), 2 As (3.6), 4 A+s (4.0). Was initially rather disappointed, but then I realized how little it mattered. Today was graduation for the seniors too - and many alumni came back - and listening to their stories it really struck me that really, there is so much more to life than just grades.

Been so long since I was here. My school does this online grade checking system and with it, they don’t really want to send out report cards or interims( saves paper as they say), so I better much know what I have. I’ve got like an A+, 2 As and 2A-

@BuringIce people graduate from your school already? I thought people frauds in the summer earliest like April or may

^she goes to school in Singapore

@Naomistar Our school does the same thing! It’s so convenient and eco-friendly.

I am sad to say that math is no longer my strong point. >:l
I have like a B- in geometry. and I had a B+ average last year for Alg. (I use to have a 99% average in math up before Alg.)

And I kind of like school right now… we get a lot of work but it’s kind of interesting… haha

^LOL!!!

I am state math champion and I am getting an A- in Geometry, a class which I have done already (Over summer, while you 16’ers were CCing it up.

Anyway, I was without power cuz of Sandy and missed a whole week of school!!!
But that might hurt me as the end of my first quarter is coming up. Currently at 4.0 GPA but at borderline of A- or A in: Honors Geometry, Honors English 9, Honors World History and Health (Yes, I realize the failure in my Asian veins. Which reminds me, one of my friends is allergic to bees and I congratulated him. He didn’t get it).

Also, how are you guys socially?

I am an extremely ‘cool’ guy in school, but I am SUPER-COMPETITIVE!!!
I am Asian but also somewhat good looking, so I am popular, but not in a conventional way. Like everyone respects me and my drive, but I don’t really associate myself with the ‘popular’ kids. I am sorta feared, but respect is what I value. Because of this, I have a lot of Debate friends and FIRST Robotics friends.

But how bout you?

Sorry.

And people just call me “way too calm and chill”. (No joke) I don’t really care about what people do ahah. i’m involved but my sports have kind of delayed that for a bit. haha

Socially, i’m great. I’m not super popular - the freshman class has 750+ kids so you’ve gotta be extremely well known - but I have a decent amount of friends. People always want me to eat lunch with them, sit next to them in class, hang out with them after school, etc. People think that I’m smart but funny and cool. aren’t i quite the social butterfly? ;)

Another question to stir it up a bit… How much homework do you have a night?

Like 2 hours at most.

1-3 hours, but usually around 1.75 hours

3.1459265358979323 hours is also applicable.
